WEI SCORE: (5 stars out of 5)
Default out of the box was:
CPU-4.7, RAM-5.9, GPU-4.5, Game-4.5, HDD-5.9
Reran it to get:
CPU-4.7, RAM-5.9, GPU-4.5, Game-4.7, HDD-5.9
The WEI processor score on the Pentium 967 is 4.3, if you buy that model.
Not sure why, but the gaming score upped itself when I reran the WEI test, so if your score is lower, run the test again.
DESIGN: (6 stars out of 5)
In this day of thin netbooks being nearly impossible to upgrade nor easy to gain access to the HDD or wireless card, the 756 shines like a beacon for the others. The bottom plate is easily removed by taking off one screw and sliding the bottom plate toward you. Underneath has *very* easy access to the HDD, 2 RAM slots (one filled) and the wireless card. For this, you rock for me, Acer!
The weight is only 2 lbs 15 oz. *Very* light and thin for a $300 netbook.

I'll probably say this several times throughout this review: This is a very fast, "snappy" netbook! I'm impressed. Using the Celeron 877, I am amazed at how responsive it is, though if you get the Pentium 967 model, it is very close to the 877's performance and still be an excellent purchase.Read more ›
The screen is crystal clear, and makes up for the relative snall size. Beats the heck out of having a small tablet screen. The KEYBOARD...I love the keyboard and wish my regular PC keyboard was as soft and easy and accurate a touch.
The touchpad, however, is a smidge TOO sensitive. Tomorrow, I'm going to go get a wireless battery-operated mouse and disable the touchpad. For one, it's a personal preference, and for two...This one responds too easily to my hands resting near it and trying to type. It's super sensitive.
Anything I've done on it has gone very smooth. I ditched McAfee in favor of MSE, and this little dude is surprisingly short on pre-loaded, unnecessary programs (YAY!). I'll probably be removing a few of them as I find I don't use them, but may as well explore 'em while I got 'em.
Liking the shiny piano finish- Aesthetically pleasing and all...But I'm sure after some handling I will probably not like it, having to keep cleaning it up. Looking into a decal/skin product to cover it over.
I will at some point, expand the RAM. As of today- Not necessary. I'm sure after a while of usage, I'll need to pep it up a little. But right now- It's all good.
If I find something to whine about, I'll update my post...But I am very pleased with my decision to buy this product.
Oh, and Amazon- Ya done good on your end of the deal too. Just sayin. :)
I read that the average battery life is supposed to be 4 hrs, I've found that when running on 'power saver' while web surfing I actually get closer to 5 hours. Considering all this I'm sure that it will easily meet all of my needs once school starts in a few days.
There have been several complaints on similar models that the computer overheats and that the navigation pad is 'jumpy'. I can't speak for other models but on this computer I have not noticed either of those issues. The computer stays very cool and runs very quiet as well. I've heard that this is supposed to rival the macbook air, and from my experience so far I might actually believe that claim.
There is some room for imporovement, this model has a 'clickable' touch pad, and there are no mouse buttons. Instead you have to click the bottom let area in order to left click - which can be a little difficult with out looking. I think I would have preferred that there were individual buttons in addition to the click pad. The power cord is also a little difficult to plug into the power outlet I'm not sure if this is a problem for other people, it could be that I am just not used to Acer power cords...Read more ›
