Best $360 I ever spent!,
This review is from: Acer Aspire One AOD250-1580 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - 7.5 Hour Battery Life (Personal Computers)
This is the best little computer I've ever owned!!! The battery life is exactly as advertised (I had trouble running it dead the first three times - as the directions recommend!), the keyboard is large and comfortable, the monitor is bright and clear, and the little guy weighs almost nothing!!! I'm a teacher, I just throw him in my bag everyday (he weighs less than my teacher's editions!). The processing speed is faster than my full size laptop, and the functionality... well, you just can't beat it!!! Buy this one!!! Like I said, THE BEST $360 BUCKS I EVER SPENT!!!

Very Poor Service & Warranty on Acers,

I purchased an Acer Aspire One AOD250-1580 10.1-Inch Blue Netbook - 7.5 Hour Battery Life. After just 3 weeks the computer developed power issues. It wouldn't hold a charge or even start up. It took me a week of daily e-mail exchanges just to get a phone number for the Acer service people. Then after another week of phone exchanges & a new power cord, I was told I'd have to mail my computer to Acer for repairs AT MY EXPENSE! There are no local Acer service centers in the US, so I could not take it in personally for warranty repairs.

I went into Best Buy, and a salesman quickly tried to talk me out of buying a Netbook to begin with. To go with a cheap full-sized laptop -- imagine that, pricier than the Netbooks!
I found this on sale at Walmart. For $300+, I said to hell with it. It's worth the risk. Boy, was the salesperson wrong! I used this extremely light Netbook for documents, surfing the web, and streaming videos. It won't stream HD videos well, but with such a small screen resolution, you really don't see a difference with standard quality. I picked up a friend's full-sized laptop, and after having such a light-weight version, her's felt like a ton of bricks! I would never go back to a regular laptop if it wasn't for the lack of CD-rom drive on the netbook. I keep all my files on an external drive to keep it running fast.

There are a lot of reviews, so I'll cover the highlights:
Did a lot of research between this, samsung nc-10, and a few other models, and settled on this one. Honestly, they're all pretty much the same, with the distinction of the newer models come with bluetooth. I was on the fence waiting for windows 7 to come preinstalled, but I got impatient, and I wasn't sure how long it would take before they would release it with windows 7. One change I made was to swap out the ram for a 2GB chip before I even started it, booted it up, and away I went. Keyboard is a bit smaller than used too, but it was primarily for the wife, so not a big issue. I think I'd get used to after a few hours, just a little less wiggle room for touch typing than I was used to. There was some 'crapware', mostly games, and I'm not a fan of mcaffee, so removed & installed avast & comodo instead. Runs great, and as long as you get that it's not supposed to be a powerhouse, you'll be fine. The weight is very nice, my wife will be taking with her to hospital & other places, so compared to my old laptop (17" screen), its barely there! We love it & think you won't go wrong on this. Glossy finish shows fingerprints, but it looks good. Screen is really nice, sharp, beautiful colors. Touchpad is seamless, which is nice so that you don't get crumbs in the cracks (sitting on the couch.. it happens), and build quality seems pretty solid.

Contacted Acer to understand why the notebook does not hybernate, their repply was to ask me to submit a LOT of personal information as I had not register my pc, and then they would answer my question, in essence holding hostage any answer they may or may not have about the problems with their equipment

Great little buddy,

Been lovin it from the moment it landed on my doorstep. Keyboard a little small but not enough to pose a problem (it might if you have large hands ad extensive keyboard tasks). Portability is more than enough to make up for that.

I'll keep this short since so many other great reviews exist.
The netbook is fantastic. Very speedy and the screen is super sharp (1024 x 680) and easy to see. They keyboard takes a little getting used to, especially for me since I use shortcut keys all the time and hitting Shift, Control, Alt, or Fn is a little tricky -- but that's going to be the case with any netbook. The big thing for me was being able to install Windows 7 on it. It took it beautifully! No glitches, and everything worked perfectly on the first try. I did not have to manually install a single driver! (I installed by plugging in a USB DVD drive.) The battery life is impressive! Just remember you won't get 8 hours if you've got WiFi turned on. FYI, the battery is over half the weight of the device. This little guy is now my travel companion, and a great test for Windows 7. Now I just need to get an AC adaptor for my car.

We bought this laptop for our 10 year old daughter for her birthday. I'm not overly impressed by the speed - it seems slow and takes forever to load the internet, etc. Just assumed it would be more comparable to our other laptops.

Not a bad little buddy to have with you on the go. If you're like me and travel frequently, then this guy comes in handy. Easy enough to tug around with you and very user friendly. I mainly use this for online use and streaming music. I've had no complaints so far.
