(this review may skip around a lot but I'm trying to cover everything) Before I bought this laptop I was using a Compaq Presario F700. Completely unreliable for anything. I finally started searching for a new laptop around April knowing that my previous laptop would give out any day. I finally came across a laptop (this one) that had everything I wanted for a pretty fabulous price. Fast computer, reliable company, HUGE hard drive. I've had this laptop for a week now and haven't had any problems with it. It's great for a multi-tasking student like myself. I can easily have 10 tabs open in chrome, play and download music, instant message a couple friends, and type away at an essay and it still runs just as fast if I only had one program running. The quality of the screen is like nothing I've ever seen before. My father wanted me to just walk into any store and pick out the cheapest one (like he did for 300 bucks) and whenever I try to use his laptop I have to squint because everything is so fuzzy. On my Compaq, it was miserable to watch DVDs because everyone looked rather pixelated, as if I was watching it on the internet. The sound quality is pretty great too. I keep a fan on in my room 24/7 and it's rather noisy. The speakers on the laptop are perfect for drowning it out. With Windows 7 (compared to Vista and XP), everything is smooth and is rather easy to navigate. The over all looks of the laptop are pretty nice, the only thing I was disappointed in was the glossy lid. That was probably my error for not realizing this but I don't regret my choice in laptops. It's just a slight annoyance to have fingerprints on it. The keyboard took just a little bit to get used to, but I do like having a number pad on a laptop. They keys themselves feel great when typing. I also like the the idea of the multi-functional touch pad, but I have some issues with it accidentally zooming in due to the way I rest my hands on the keyboard. The keyboard shortcuts are also pretty handy. There weren't a whole lot on the Compaq, but on this laptop I can have iTunes running in the background and just above the number pad I can conveniently pause/play, stop, and skip songs without even opening the window. I thought that was really neat. The battery life isn't amazing but it isn't terrible either. the few times I used it while not unplugged it averaged about 3 hours more or less. This is a step up from the measly hour I got with my previous laptop. While using it off the charger it changes the estimated time left for usage (couldn't think of a better way to phrase that) a whole lot which was a little annoying but that'd probably because I open and close programs all the time. Before buying this laptop, I got a couple of opinions from my tech-geeks. They said i5 core processor laptops get hot really fast without a fan and someone also said that the processor gives out more easily without the use of a fan. So far, the laptop hasn't overheated or burned my lap which is a plus. The laptop's fan itself is incredibly quiet and usually I can't even hear it when it is running.
All in all, I would say that you get everything you want in this powerful and money saving laptop. I have a feeling I'll be sticking with this guy well through college.

I finally bought a new laptop after stretching out the mileage of my last one for over 8 years, so I might be a little easily impressed. But I am impressed nonetheless. I chose this laptop because it seemed like the best deal for having all of the specs I was interested in - i5 processor, 4gb ddr3 memory, and HD screen quality. It has definitely delivered so far. The screen quality is beautiful and Windows 7 runs fast with multiple programs going at the same time. I also like the little things about it. It has 4 USB drives, the speakers (which I really didn't care about beforehand) sound great, and the 500 gb of memory is usefull too. The only negatives are all the useless Acer software that comes with it and the clicker on the touchpad is annoying to use because it's one connected piece used for both right and left click functions (I use a wireless mouse). But I guess that's nitpicking a bit. I hope this computer lasts a while because I love it.

This computer is my 2nd laptop purchase and I'm amazed how great and fast it is. I have a desktop that was $1200 and this laptop is proving to be way better than it. If you are in search of a great laptop you found it. I especially liked the processor on it when looking at it and even though it gets pretty hot sometimes it still performs good. I play games that require a lot of processor and ram and the games play just like they would on a alienware or a asus. Plus, the 500gb hard drive is very nice.

The ACER machine is wonderful and I am enjoying it. That said, find it elsewhere rather than buying it from Forrest-Electronics in California. Their customer service is god-awlful. Amazon washed their hands of it when I began escalating as I was about to file a criminal complaint for mail fraud. It was that bad!

I have owned the AS5745-3428 for 4 months, It is the fastest and most versatile laptop I have purchased. I researched this particular computer for 2 months and spent another 2 weeks looking for it. It must be in high demand because it was hard to find and very few were available. I recommend them to friends and co workers.

My immediate suggestion to all purchasers of any new computer is dump all the free trial offer software. You can only use the 'free trial' stuff if you register before using. As soon as you do that your machine is inundated with security and monitoring software that only allows 30 uses of the program. After 30 uses the program is shut down, all your information is captured and is unavailable to you. You must pay for the program at that point to retrieve your information and continue using it. The security / monitoring software slows processing time to a crawl. It is very frustrating to buy a fast computer and have it bogged down by unnecessary monitoring software.

Dump all the free stuff. Avoid the 'security / monitoring' software invading your computer and slowing it down. Buy and load software you want or need.

I was a bit skeptical about purchasing this laptop due to some of the cons and negative feedback it received, but I am sooooo glad I took the risk and "went for it". This is an amazing, powerful and fun laptop. I provide voice over and video production services and it is perfect for this type of work, as well as, many other fun activities - gaming, social websites, watching movies - it does it all superbly! :-)

Was a little reluctant to buy this laptop for the lack of reviews from other buyers.
This Acer laptop has held up to my expectation. I have had it for a month now.

Pros:
Very Sturdy and slim form factor. Not very heavy.
Windows works great on this laptop
Option to create a backup disk for OS is great. Others charge extra.
Multi-touch pad works.
Sound and display are good.


Cons:
Comes with bloatwares like any others. I uninstalled them so not a big deal.
The full keyboard will need some getting used to for a laptop. Again not a big deal.
Looks did not WOW me.

I got a great price for this computer and it runs beautifully. I love it! I also love getting free shipping at Amazon.

No complaints at all. Nice, solid, inexpensive lap top. Actually have been pleasantly surprised by the battery life, but that might have more to do with my old Sony that ate through the battery in 1.5 hours. I'm getting 3-3.5 easy on the Acer while doing normal Office related tasks.

I've bought this laptop and I've never regretted my choice. Before I had Sony Vaio and it had some issues from the beginning of usage. But this one is really fast and smooth. The sound is ok, not excellent comparing to entertainment laptops. But this is not that important to me, I still can enjoy watching movies and videos with comfort. I like that it's pretty light for its size. I would strongly advise to buy it to anyone! This is really a good value for money!
