Other than a basic 3.5mm audio headset/speaker jack, there is a full size (not mini-)HDMI port to connect to TV to which you could hook 3.1+ sound. Acer appears to be marketing these towards traveling business/presentation as it comes with a LAN/VGA combo cord that connects into a single port - the VGA could be connected to sound I believe.
There are NO "major" audio connection capabilities.
Reality: this is a fairly low end laptop. AMZ listed incorrectly initially and I purchased mine for under $150 incl. tax/ship, so for me it was an excellent value. At the standard pricing somewhere ~$450 there are better laptops available. Honestly, I'd look for a refurb Lenovo ThinkPad in this price range before purchasing the Acer Aspire V5 w/Intel Pentium, although this model does have a good mix of newer hardware for the low end price-point.
This is NOT a gaming computer or for anything requiring massive fast computation (I wouldn't use for video editing).
