It’s an impressive laptop to say the least. It hasn't been the most popular selling laptop as of yet, but it sure does pack some decent hardware. This laptop will replace my old HP laptop. Acer has been dominating the laptop charts lately, and their E1-571-6837 laptop honestly appeared as another great release. So if you’re looking for a low priced Acer Aspire laptop, than keep on reading.

At a mere 15.6 inches, this cheap Acer Aspire laptop packs a 1366 by 768 pixel resolution. Great for watching movies in 720p HD. Windows 8 is the default operating system, and it looks stunning on the Aspire’s LED display.

The processing unit contains Intel’s third generation Core i5 processor, running at 2.6 GHz with turbo boost abilities of up to 3.20 GHz. 4 GB of DDR3 RAM can also be found inside this laptop.

Graphics will be basic — Intel HD Graphics 4000. Just enough to play basic computer games, such as The Sims 3. Higher end games will run, but quite possibly on a lower setting.

Pros

This Aspire laptop can be described as a great desktop replacement system. It has the right amount of speed and build quality that most desktop computers contain. The Intel Core i5 processor does one heck of a great job in my opinion. It runs Adobe Premiere Elements 11, Quick books Premiere 2013, and so much more — without the hassle of lag.

Battery life isn't anything shocking, but it also isn't bad either. On average, the battery will last 3.25 hours while on the internet. That’s somewhere around average for a laptop of its caliber.

The whole laptop was designed a glossy black color. It looks great It’s very professional looking.

It took a few minutes to work out windows 8, but once I did I couldn't be happier with this computer. It is so lightweight, the bottom of the computer doesn't get hot, and I love the number pad next to the keyboard. I would recommend this to anyone.

Good laptop, when it wasn't breaking down. I bought this laptop because I was told Acer uses quality parts for a friendly price. I had to exchange my first Acer Aspire E1-571 because a hardware issue prevented me from connecting to wifi. I was hopeful with my second Acer Aspire, thinking it was maybe a bit of bad luck the first time. However, my second one solidified my belief it was the brand. As soon as the second one turned 8 months old, the HDD crashed. Got it repaired and just under 3 months later, it crashed again. Shortly before the HDD crashed the second time, I needed to contact Acer because I noticed the charger was not sending juice to the battery. They sent me the wrong piece, then when they finally shipped me the right one, it didn't fix the problem at all. I tried to keep my laptop on a sturdy and flat surface as much as possible. It was never jostled that severely. I talked to Micro Center, the shop that sold it to me (they do warranty maintenance), and after a diagnostic, they discovered the motherboard was faulty. I was able to finally convince Micro Center to let me exchange for a new laptop and I couldn't be happier with my new Dell Inspiron. Maybe I was a rare case, but the frustration I went through was enough to push me away from this manufacturer.

Cons:
Poor and not so knowledgeable customer/technical service (I swear they have a list of answers made up for each and every problem you may have, and they just read from it like robots. Pre-installed answers).

Faulty equipment

The three week turn around time for repairs if you ship it through the distributor. Like I have a back-up device laying around.

Windows 8....it's just not as much of a user friendly OS like the previous versions of Windows. Too bad it is standard these days.

The laptop configuration is good for my work. It gives me all the processing power I need. The only thing I do not like are Windows 8 which started annoying me since the day I started using it (I could write a book on it by now) - i crashes, disconnects windows store / apps from the internet and makes me use a Hotmail account for starters... I upgraded to Windows 8.1 from the store after battling for a month which got rid of some of the problems (and may have added new ones).
The keyboard layout looks a little cramped and needed some time to get used to - it's better working when I use a wireless keyboard / mouse.

I've only had this computer for about a week so I'm still tinkering with some things. I'm not familiar at all with windows 8 (I've heard my share of horror stories about it) but overall it just takes a little time & patience to navigate a new system. This computer is very fast, great video & audio and lightweight. I'm extremely pleased with it and I absolutely took ample time searching, reading reviews & consulting friends more educated with computers. I've no complaints so far.

The touchpad on this Acer was so sensitive (even when adjusted down), trying to type with this computer was a most frustrating experience. The slightest brush of my palm added characters, moved paragraphs and erased entire emails. After two weeks, I gave up and returned it in favor of a Dell that I was able to try before buying. Thankfully, Amazon has a quick and easy return system, but the whole ordeal was still a hassle since I use my PC daily for work.
