Acer CDRW -4432AI 32x4x4x Internal IDE drive
Installation is a snap! Fantastic for the price. Making Music Cd can be tiring for the beginner, but not a problem for the experienced. The problem is choosing and matching the CD size to original - not the drive fault. I easily upgrade the firmware from 3CS to 3DS! Malfunctioned and overheated. Good customer service.
Very hard to install. Operates with horizontal mount, but not with vertical. Overheated and took too long to stop spinning. My friend has Acer CD-Rom with the same problems. Customer service was good but best they could recommend was to return the product. Would give 0 rating if not good customer support.

These would probably the best words to describe this new toy, which I've picked up.... It comes bundled with Adaptec software, which with its wizard friendly software can make you an expert on how to burn CD's in no time. Though it's not a SCSI card based drive, it's price and performance will make your woes dissappear in a whisper......

After recieving this as a gift from my fiance' to make music for our upcoming wedding I have used it for various applications and it has worked quite well. It was easy to install for the most part and 98 picks it up right away just like any other cd-rom drive. The included Adaptec software is also quite good. The only problem I have come across is that it can be somewhat finicky about the brand of cdr's that you use. Oh, let the world know that Memorex cds do not fit in car cd players!Happy Burning, -Jim J.

We bought this Acer a year ago,

the 2x 2x 8x model and it failed after about 14 months. We burned about 150 CDs over that time and felt it was OK for the money. But now that it is dead, I feel ripped off. My brothers HP did exactly the same thing. died after 14 months. If you can buy extended warranties on these drives, it is highly recommended.
