i Just hooked this up to my laptop closed the blinds in the room and streamed some Youtube videos. I was really surprised with the quality of the picture. I experimented with it about five feet from the wall and held it in my hand while projecting it onto the complete ceiling of the room. In all cases the picture was very clear and didn't skip. The sound was actually much better than I expected. but I would definitely hook it up to a pair of cheap speakers. I went to some webpages and even the text was easily readable however the room was dark. I thought for sure I was going to return this when I saw the box but I dont think you can expect better for less than $100 dollars. I cannot speak for the durability of the unit but if you do NOT want to spend more than $90 for a projector I would check this one out. Ill update.

This thing is top-notch for how little they're charging. If you're looking for a like deluxe home theater, yeah you won't be totally happy. But if you're like me, and you just want something bigger than a laptop screen to watch your movies on that feels more like an *experience* (and allows you to use your computer at the same time for other things)? It is PERFECT.

I bought it primarily for use in a space where the wall is about 6-7 feet away from where the projector is. You can see small divisions between the pixels, which is what keeps it from being like home-theater quality amazingness, but the image is VERY crisp. And you can read text (even as small as subtitles) at this distance.

I had bought a projector that was 20 dollars cheaper than this a while ago, and that was a piece of cr@p and had all the usual pitfalls -- the most annoying of which is that it was extremely loud, had some seriously WEAK speakers and NO audio output plug, and the worst was that if the movie wasn't set in sunny outdoor daylight, you couldn't see s***. Which basically takes out most action movies, and 99% of harry potter. Which is simply unacceptable.

This one on the other hand doesn't have any of those problems. The picture is clear even when it's a dark scene, you can see the picture even when there's some light on in the room, the fan inside the machine is audible but doesn't overpower its built-in speakers (i put a roll of toilet paper next to it and that buffs the sound of the fan enough to hear the speakers perfectly), AND it has a clear speaker jack so you can VERY easily add another device for the audio if you prefer.

EXTREMELY happy with it. it's also way smaller than i expected!

NOTE:

The video is showing the projector playing a video I made of the projector. All I had to do was to insert the USB thumb drive, select the 'source' as the first USB port, specify 'movie' as the type of media to be played, select the MP4 file from the menu and... it plays. As you can see (in the video), it doesn't get much easier that that.

The picture quality looks much better in reality, crisp and flawless but... you get the general idea. I suspect that using a dedicated projector screen rather than the wall would make the picture brighter.

This came as a 'for review' item but, of course, I am trying to be as objective as I possibly can.

I am not going to copy the long list of specs into this review because they are all available at Amazon's page. You can also see the I/O ports and the controls on the attached video. Bottom line: I am impressed. The picture looks much better in real life than in the video. It's crisp, steady and very bright, considering that the wall projection is a 100"+ screen and I could have been larger if I had more space on the wall. A projector like this would be great in the summer to play movies in the backyard. But, let me be a little more organized.

UNPACKING AND SETUP

Nothing easier. The many buttons on the remote and the numerous I/O ports at the back may seem a little intimidating but you can get this to run in minutes. My first try was connecting a streamer trough one of the HDMI ports, browsing the Net and playing a Netflix movie. It all came out perfect. You simply identify the source of your signal and... there it is, a giant computer screen on the wall. Could easily do presentations with an air mouse.

OK, I'm using this as a Home Theater projector. It's 1280X800 which is 16:10 and considered Full HD. All my PC monitors are 16:10 cause I like the extra realestate as opposed to the 16:9 widescreens. Anyways, I figured, give it a shot and hope I can live with it, turns out, I LOVE it!! I bought it for the 2800 Lumens and the 13,000:1 contrast ratio. In my eyes, that's the best of both worlds. Otherwise, you get a really dark picture with Home theater or really bright with business projectors. This, with Smart-Eco on and the high contrast is PERFECT for most living room settings in my opinion.

I figure being it's labeled as a "business projector", I'd have to tweak the picture a bunch..... NOT THE CASE! Right out of the box, it looked VERY good!! Since, I've adjusted only the brightness and contrast. However, for sports, I did adjust the greens down some, that's it!! It's color management lets you adjust 6 different colors for hue, gain and saturation. Honestly, if you can't find your perfect picture, you got other things to worry about more. Also, it has 4 presets and 2 user picture setting. All of which you can tweak to your liking. Lastly, it has "brillant color" which has 4 options, warm, normal, cool and off. Basically, for me, it's like comparing a "soft white" (yellowish) to a daylight light bulb. I prefer cool(whiter) but some may prefer a softer warm color. Actually, it more depends on your other setting that will determine where this setting looks best. Anyways, you can adjust this for all 6 main setting.

The other reason I bought this is it has FULL 3D built in. You can use any 3D enabled set-top box and it automatically decodes the format. You can also FORCE 2D to 3D conversions by going in to the setting and turning it on. I found "Frame Sequential" works the best.
