price/performance good, hard drive bad
Great notebook for the money, but the hard drive failed shortly after receiving it. Speed was fine, booted pretty quick, when the hard drive went Amazon's online return was hassel free and money was refunded promptly (before next billing cycle on cc anyway) but they didnt have any more to ship so I ordered the .048 model elsewhere with the 60 gig drive, and couldnt be...

Stay Away from Acer
I bought a laptop from Acer, repeatedly had problems with the DVD drive. They told me to mail it back to them for repair. Then, they mailed it back to me untouched. Then, when I called them on it, they told me to mail it back again and be without it for yet another week. This is ridiculous. I'm filing charges in small claims court for the cost of the laptop.

Great notebook for the money, but the hard drive failed shortly after receiving it. Speed was fine, booted pretty quick, when the hard drive went Amazon's online return was hassel free and money was refunded promptly (before next billing cycle on cc anyway) but they didnt have any more to ship so I ordered the .048 model elsewhere with the 60 gig drive, and couldnt be happier, easily enough power to do what I typically do, web/email picture editing etc. If you need a notebook on a tight budget its definately worth a look.
