This is a cheap but very capable projector. I've used several projectors but had never even seen an LED projector before, so I was a little suspicious initially. I project this out to 90 inches or so against a white wall. I use it to watch movies and play XBox, instead of having a normal TV.

The resolution comes in at the odd setting of 858x600, about 1/4th the resolution of 1080p. I'm sure HDTV would be better, but I find myself not really missing it. When dealing with lower-resolution sources like standard TV, it tends to look a little soft, rather than pixelated, very pleasing. I think it's as good as can be expected with higher resolutions. Nice colors. The picture does look very washed out during the day, even though the room doesn't get much light. Viewable, but pretty bad. At night the picture is excellent, it's like being at the movies. Oh, and the projector's quite small, it could easily be put inside a laptop bag with the laptop and carried around. Once set up, it's very easy. I haven't even used the remote or touched any buttons yet, aside from turning it on and off. I'm sure there's advantages to adjusting the picture and I'll give that a try someday, but in the meantime I admire the simplicity.

There are some problems with design that are frustrating, not because they're anything terrible but because they just seem like examples of poor thinking. The power input is like something that comes with a laptop, a line with a bump in the middle, which makes the product difficult to hang from the ceiling. There's no headphone jack, and the speaker is the quality of a clock radio, which means you need to rig up some Radio Shack gear to connect the source to some kind of stereo system or computer speakers.

Adding another update. i fixed the projector. I purchased a replacement DMD chip from an Acer spare parts distributer which you can find by googling the part number "57.K280H.004". This is the texas instruments dmd chip EYK2801023026001DA5901, which I could not find directly (Maybe they are only sold through the projector service agents). The projector dissassembles a bit like a netbook laptop, and the DMD board is under the four screws with springs on them. The DMD chip comes off like swapping out a PC processor chip, and similarly has lots of pins which you can see when it comes off. I added white heat sink paste and put it back together and it worked first time with the picture good as new. There was no chip alighment requrired which was good. This chip cost about half of the original cost of the projector, and was quite fiddly to do, but it was something I wanted to try. (I have experience in repairing electronic equipment). I will be careful with not obstructing the fan inlets as cooling may have been the issue in the first place. This is a fun projector and I am happy it is working again (hopefully I get a decent life out of it now)...Steve

Just an update that after 13 months my projector has failed. I started up the projector (which had been unused for a few weeks), and I saw 2 dead pixels appear, which within a couple of hours had multiplied to over 100 dead pixels making the image unwatchable. A search of the internet shows this to be a DMD chip failure which is probably not worthwhile repairing (to expensive) hence into the spare parts drawer it goes. Shame it was a fun machine.. Steve

I have been looking at getting an LED (not lcd) projector and finally took the plunge.

The Acer k-11 works great as a projector. I really wish it had a headphone jack because the internal speaker on it is pathetic. At least with a headphone jack i could plug in some amplified speakers.
I use this projector everyday as my TV monitor in my apartment and I take it with me to work everyday and use it as a second monitor. I have dropped it multiple times from table tops tripods falling over with no problems. Again you won't be disappointed in the clarity or the brightness indoors, outside in daylight forget it but who uses a projector in those circumstances. I would have given this 5 stars but because of the missing headphone jack I had to give 4 stars.

I purchased this projector to be able to make presentations from my computer or tablet while traveling on the road. I purchased this particular projector because of the reviews I read on the internet (at various sites). It seemed to be the brightest of the mini projectors I was looking at.

The Bad: The sound is low and there are now audio out plugs. The fan is loud, but it does a great job keeping the projector very cool.

The Good: This projector is great for low indoor lighting situations. It works well with computers and tablets with it's hdmi and d connections. I travel with my family, so this is doubling as a video projector in our rv. I purchased a simple window blind (rolls up and down) at a department store and installed it to the side of the bed over the driver/passenger seats of the cab of our rv. Now, when we want to watch a movie, I just pull the shade down, and we have an instant movie screen. I set the projector up on the counter top, connect the small dvd player that I use for some presentations, put a dvd in and we have movie time. I connect the dvd audio to a speaker strip made for flat screen tv's, and we have excellent sound also.

Conclusion: We love this projector! It was purchased for business purposes, but is great for work or pleasure, and is doing double time in our household. I have only had this for a couple of weeks, so I don't know how long it will last. I am very happy with it so far.
