I didn't buy mine from Amazon but I'm about to pick one up here shortly. I just wanted to express how much I love my Acer S231HL. I have a 4 monitor setup (only one of which is this Acer) but after owning this bad boy for almost 2 years I'm kicking the others to the curb. There has been zero degradation and I use my system heavily (between 60 and 80 hours a week) for work. The other three I have are (2 View Sonic and 1 Asus) which haven't had life altering problems...but just problems that I get tired of having to deal with (Both ViewSonics like to change the background color to a yellow hue, which is annoying when you're jumping from solid white to a yellow backdrop and the Acer has had a dead pixel since about 3 months after purchase).

I just received two of these monitors last night. I was replacing some broken ViewSonic VG2230WMs which provided excellent service for many, many years. The two new Acers are flanking my ViewSonic CDE3201LED 32" LED-Lit center screen. I also have 2x DoubleSight DS-70Us (7") and 1x DoubleSight DS-90U (9"). I thought this was important so you could see what I'm comparing the new Acers to.

First, the Acers were SUPER easy to assemble. All done without tools, though the screw that holds the panel to the stand will eventually get properly tightened with a screwdriver if they work out in the long term.

Packaging was sufficient but responsibly done, with minimal styrofoam and maximum recyclable content.

I was really surprised to see that every conceivable cable that could be used with these monitors was included in the box! You get a VGA, DVI *and* HDMI cable for each monitor.

I love the fact that the power cable is two-part power supply similar to those used with laptops. This means that the reach of the cable is very long, and the part of the cable you'll most want to hide happens to also be the very thin, easiest to manipulate part.

I plugged them in and my Windows 7 64-bit machine recognized and activated them without any interaction from me. No drivers or special software to install. Literally plug and play.

The image would look good to me if they weren't flanking that big ViewSonic I mention above. They all have a max resolution of 1920x1080 and that looks better at first glance on the ViewSonic. But that resolution doesn't really hold up to over scaling like the 32" ViewSonic does, so the Acers represent that pixel density much better.

Text on the Acers is much more readable and very smooth.

These are pretty monitors, they're light, and they have excellent saturation, especially under the Graphics color profile... but so far 2 of the 8 that I've purchased for work have a problem with just "blanking out" to a black screen briefly. This happens when connected via VGA and DVI. Searching online, apparently a number of Acer monitors have a blanking out issue. While unfortunate, I do intend to keep using them as they're otherwise great monitors when they're not lemons.

** UPDATE 2014-JUL-28 **

These Acers we still have running around the office that we didn't send back because of the blackout issue still work, however a couple of them have started showing degraded visual performance. The rich color that they used to have is now much duller. They still work, they just don't look as good as they did fresh out of the box, regardless of what video mode you run them in (Movie/Photo/etc). Those monitors have been relegated to the lesser-used production computers.

Of all the monitors I've purchased for work and personal use, the ones that have been rock solid monitors with great color and clarity have been the Dell UltraSharp U2412M 24-Inch Screen LED-lit Monitor. We have 10 of them around the workplace, and they work great as second monitors for our Macs, and as primary monitors for some of our Windows users. I also use 2 of them at home with my gaming PC.

I bought three of them together. They have GREAT viewing angles, they are very thin, very light and look nice. The images are crisp and clear and I they have the best menu system I have seen. When you click on a menu button, an arrow appears on the screen and shows you which buttons to press to perform whatever function is available. This is the only monitor I have seen that does this and I love it!! The base feels fairly sturdy and attaches easily with a single, built in set screw. They are vesa compliant so you can also use a variety of different mounts if you choose to.

My biggest complaint is the plugs stick straight out the back of the monitor, instead of facing down like most do. This could be good or bad depending on your setup. On the good side (for some) you may not be able to see any of the cord hanging down on the back side. However, for the way my desk is setup it keeps me from being able to push the monitor flush against the back of the credenza, that has a small gap at the bottom just for the cords and the bottom of the stand. My second dislike is the two piece cord. Instead of a standard power cable like most monitors have, this has a 2-piece cord with a converter box much like a laptop. I supposed this could be due to the LED, but I always find the boxes (actually a smallish rectangle) annoying.

Overall- I really like them and the 24" version of this one was the same price did not have the HDMI, it had VGA and DVI... I chose to take the HMDI instead and I'm not at all disappointed!
