Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

While certainly not the most powerful portable computer on the market, Acer's TMC110TCi Tablet PC nevertheless may be one of the most convenient. Small and lightweight for maximum portability, the unit also offers total input freedom. Users who prefer traditional data entry may take advantage of the integrated 84-key keyboard with scroll feature and programmable touchpad. Those who prefer "handwriting" via digital ink can simply use the enclosed stylus to freehand sketch their ideas on the system's swiveling flip-open 10.4-inch LCD screen. And for those who'd rather speak than write, the TMC110Ti also supports voice recognition.

But there's far more to like about Acer's most sophisticated tablet to date. For starters, at just 10.1 by 8.5 by 1.0 inches and 3.2 pounds (without external drives), the unit is small enough to be carried inside some briefcases. It's also quite a bit more sophisticated than Acer's first-generation tablet, the C104CTi. Driving the system is a 900 MHz Ultra-Low-Voltage Intel Pentium M processor with a stunning 1024 KB Level 2 cache, 512 MB SDRAM memory (double that of last year's model) and an Intel 855GM graphics chipset with Intel Extreme Graphics 2 technology and 64 MB shared memory. The system features two ultra-fast USB 2.0 ports for connection of plug and play peripherals, a single FireWire port for attaching external devices such as digital video cameras, a spacious 40 GB hard disk and a detachable CD-RW/DVD drive through which you can archive data, install applications, burn and play audio CDs and enjoy the latest DVD movies.

Other critical amenities include an RJ-45 LAN port for fast network access and Internet interaction, a low-speed 56K modem, and an internal 802.11b wireless LAN with internal antenna. The unit is also Bluetooth capable. Bundled software includes Microsoft Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, Microsoft Office XP Pack for Tablet PC, and several multimedia utilities. Battery life is estimated at 3.0 hours in ideal conditions.

The computer works fine, small, quite fast. Heat seems to be a problem. The phone support is useless and the person who called himself Brad shouldn't have any contact with costumers- he is disgrace for Acer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't get this one...go for the Toshiba instead, February 23, 2004

I work for the local school distticts IS department, we recently bought 286 of these and they have been nothing but a problem since day one. The monitor latch often breaks, the wireless does not work worth crap, and the screen is very dark and hard to read. Altough the Toshiba cost's only a few hundred dollars more, it is WELL worth the extra money. Don't waste it on the Acer.
