5.0 out of 5 stars great prise to performance February 28, 2009
This is my secondary monitor for my laptop and works great. I was looking for something that is around 19" and gives better resolution than 1400 X 1050 on my laptop.
My main use of the unit is for VMs and text though I use it sometimes for graphics.

Gives 1680X 1050 max resolution at 60HZ refresh and well worth the money that you spend on it. It is not the glossy / ultra bright vivid color screen type, though you can use it at high brightness using the pre-sets or custom calibration.

3.0 out of 5 stars Utilitarian performer June 4, 2009
I wish I could rate this monitor higher because for my purposes it's a five all the way however for someone looking to purchase it as the primary resource the deficiencies in ergonomics compared to other units in the same size range do not justify a higher rating. Then again, there is the price...if the astute shopper is paying attention, this one can be found for less than a Franklin note, and at that price it looks even better.

I use it in a dual view configuration with an upscale Samsung Syncmaster of the same size so the differences in features are clearly evident. Only the tilt angle is adjustable on the Acer so if one has a workspace set-up where nuanced adjustments can be avoided it's just fine. Even with user defined customization of brightness and sharpness it is not going to match many other pricier models. In native mode, colors are noticeably less bright, although ironically, the color reproduction in graphics modes seems reflect greater accuracy than my premium model so for photo editing I actually use the Acer instead. It also has a text mode for contrasts to assist in reducing eyestrain. If you're looking for 1080P and HDMI, then you need to get a reality check at this price level.

It will accommodate either DVI or VGA inputs (cables included which was a nice surprise) with 1680 X 1050 or 1600 X 900 (analog) max resolution at 60Hz. Although one might have some reservations regarding construction and performance, it feels sturdy, durable, is well packaged and I didn't have any dead pixels.

Just about the only complaint I have is the manipulation of the control buttons on the monitor frame takes a little while to get used to as they seem harder to press than one customarily experiences.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just plug and play... September 10, 2009

Purchased this monitor for my wife's 70+ mother in OH, and she was able to make the connections and adjust the settings with a bit of over-the-phone coaching.

She likes the flat screen/larger screen format, because it frees up desk space for her and the larger picture helps her better see the details while she's surfing the net and composing/reading emails.

This product was a good value for the money and seems to be just what she needed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acer X203H bd 20" LCD Monitor December 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase
Bought this to replace on old Dell 17" CRT monitor on my old G4 Slate Mac. Also added a Belkin ADC to DVI adapter.
Worked perfectly out of the box at the highest resolution. Good price, excellent image, lightweight, small footprint.
Shipped as promised (actually got it sooner than I thought I would).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Monitor....and Now Very Good at the Proper Angle September 30, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase
This 20" Acer monitor is replacing my old I-Inc 19". The colors are exceptionally varied and intense in the Acer (16.7 million) according to the stat sheets. With a 5ms refresh time there is no discernible "ghosting" of images. Finally it occurred to me that it was highly unlikely the stand would have no adjustment. There are two plastic covers on the back of the monitor that when removed reveal the hinge to adjust the tilt of the monitor. The Acer now sits on my desk at the proper angle to view the very good colors and sharp images it produces. So far, this is a very solid performer at a reasonable price. Just a word if I may about Amazon Prime; if you buy much from Amazon the modest charge per year to get free shipping on most of their products is in my opinion a very good deal. It may sound like I work for them but I don't. My wife tells me that my motto is: "Amazon.com and you're done." Actually that is quite accurate.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good Dual Monitor April 6, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase
Overall, this is a good screen. Brightness/contrast are better than my laptop's screen and are fully adjustable. Would work great as standalone, but I do not have the space to do that. Should work really well with an iMac.

I currently use it in dual view with my laptop, but most of the time it is off. The only things I don't like about it are that it is not instant on, so it has to warm up, and that you cannot rotate the display (not available as a feature, but it should be).

The menu buttons are not hard to find, but may be a little cumbersome as they are oddly placed for being activated.

Specs:
Allows both VGA and DVI inputs (both cables are included)
The height is not adjustable
Screen tilts forward and backward, not a lot but enough to get the job done
16:9 aspect ratio only (20")
Max resolution 1600x900 @ 60 Hz
Other resolutions (all stretched to fill the screen)
800x600 | 1024x768 | 1152x864 | 1280x600 | 1280x720 | 1280x768

Hope this helps, its a good monitor for the price (at least, I really like it).

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Value for the Price December 5, 2009
I picked this up Dec 5, 2009 at Best Buy for $80 as someone neglected to take down their Black Friday Price tag (gotta love BB for that, LOL), but really, even at $100 it's a great buy for a 20 inch monitor.
I use it as an extension to my laptop so I can have assorted programs running on both screens.
It's somewhat surprising how many people rip on this monitor, when the truth is, it's a 20 inch LCD with pretty good image quality. WIll you get all the bells and whistles like USB ports, HDMI ports, HD-quality image and a super-adjustable stand? No! Of course not! Could the image quality be better? Yes it could, but then again, I paid less than $100. If you want all the bells and whistles, go buy something more expensive, don't rip on a product is at heart, a VALUE monitor. If you buy it with that expectation then you will not be disappointed.
