This review is from: Acer X233H bid 23-Inch LCD Monitor (Personal Computers)
T.H.I.M.C!THIS HAS BEEN TOTAL NIGHTMARE. I started to have problems w/ my monitor about 2 months ago. There were vertical lines on the screen. I called and tried the tests that the service Tec told me. They did not work. I would like you to know that I know a little about PCs, I've built 3 so far. Anyway I emailed them and was told that I had a 3 year warranty and I needed to register it. I did so and requested info to send it out for repair. After about 10 emails telling me that I was NOT registered I finally found there was a different place to register. It was Not very clear that I needed to register in two different places. I finally got the shipping address and sent it to Temple TX. I received it back 8 days later, there was no return address, the box was different and no info inside ether. I call again and was told they never received it. I confirmed the address and sent again and requested a tracking number this time. After 11 day's I called again to check on it and was told AGAIN that they had not received it. I explained that I had a tracking number and it was signed for but this person kept telling me they did not receive it. I asked for the number to the office in Texas and was told there was no number. I then went on line and found the number; I then called and faxed you there. I finally received a call and was told AGAIN that they did not know where my monitor was. So far I'm out almost $60 in shipping and don't have a monitor! Today (9/11/09) I received a call telling me that my monitor was FOUND! . Finally I get a call telling me it was damaged and not covered under warranty. it would cost more to repair than to get a new one and I know other than having the line on the screen there was nothing wrong with it, I'm even using the old monitor with no prob's. Also I don't feel that I should have to pay to ship something that is under warranty I told them to stick it in an uncomfortable place. I'm out the shipping and now a monitor. I'll never buy Acer again!!

Wow! This is an excellent monitor overall, let alone for the price. Acer appears to have set a new standard.Great picture, settings can be adjusted easily (I prefer cool), plug and play. I recommend this monitor and I am glad I got the 23" size, even if I back up from the desk to view it. Works great! Maybe the stand could have been bulked up but it is adequate.

Beware Repair Shipping Policy - And Customer Support Horrendous,
This review is from: Acer X233H bid 23-Inch LCD Monitor (Personal Computers)
If I could give this product zero stars I would.I bought this from Amazon, via TigerDirect in April '09. I had gift coupons to use and the price was good, and I thought if I had any problems Amazon, being the company they are, would be supportive if anything went wrong; however this was a mistake on my part, because it went through TigerDirect, and their return policy was 30 days, after which you had to deal with the manufacturer directly - Acer. After a few weeks of happy ownership, the display freaked out - colors were completely distorted, and white lines were appearing on the display. I contacted Acer, they made me ship it back on my own dime (on a six week old monitor, let's not forget). I received the monitor two weeks later and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it. I had a WTH moment, plugged it in, it worked fine. I used the monitor for two more weeks and the problem came back again. I emailed their customer support, the person suggested I try a few things. It worked. Another week went by and the problem happened again. Since the problem was intermittent, it took a while trying various things to see if I was doing anything to cause the problem. In the end, I couldn't figure out any rhyme or reason for the problem, other than a component was failing somewhere. I tried four different computers (two desktops, two laptops) and four OS's (XP, Vista, Ubuntu, OSX). Even without a computer plugged in, it shows the corruption. When I contacted Acer support again, I found that the support people weren't properly reading or understanding my emails. On two occasions they thought I was complaining about a laptop or a computer. Everyone I spoke to was Indian, so it seems there was a language problem. After several emails and voice calls, I was informed that I had to pay for shipping *every time* the monitor had to go back, even if it's because of Acer's fault. The whole support process is very frustrating. Spend the money on a Dell S2409W, you can get them for about the same price when they go on special (24", and the stand tilts!) - at least that way you know you're dealing with a company with a reputable support infrastructure. It's what I should've bought in the beginning. Decent monitor unless you get one with a bad component. I'm still trying to get Acer to repair their product and stand by their warranty.
