The BEST infertility book I've ever read!,
By Sheri Forsdick (Walnut Creek, CA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Ache for a Child: Emotional, Spiritual and Ethical Insights for Women Suffering Through Infertility and Pregnancy Loss (Paperback)
This is the best infertility book I've ever read. It dealt with subjects that other infertility books don't touch. I really appreciated the chapters devoted to the spiritual and emotional aspects of infertility as well as the different perspectives that men and women have on this issue. I had never thought about the moral and ethic issues that going through infertility treatment come with and the need to have a biblical based decision as to what you as a couple are going to do - go ahead or wait. This is an execellent book for family and friends who know someone who is going through infertiltiy, miscarriage or pregnancy loss. I high recommend this book. It's consise, informative and relavent to today's infertitliy issues. Thank you Ms. Bridwell!

*Best* book on INFERTILITY and PREGNANCY LOSS on the market!,

This review is from: The Ache for a Child: Emotional, Spiritual and Ethical Insights for Women Suffering Through Infertility and Pregnancy Loss (Paperback)
As director of a national infertility and pregnancy loss
support organization, I have personally read well over 100
books on these topics. Of all of these books, a handfull
stand out in my mind as being "excelent". _The Ache for a
Child_ tops even that list of outstanding books as #1 in my
mind! ~~~ Written from a Christian perspective, this book offers
great hope and incredible insight into the emotional side
of pregnancy loss and infertility. It takes a candid look
into the the moral, ethical, medical, and even spiritual
stuggles that infertilie couples face. Issues are
addressed from the compassionate view-point of someone who
has "been there" and "walked in the shoes" of her readers
who are now facing their own monumental decisions and
heartache. ~~~ This book has dramatically influenced my life and I know
it has encouraged countless others! I do not hesitate to
give it my highest recommendation! Debra Bridwell's
realistic picture of the pain caused by the inability to
bear a child can also be very helpful to the families, friends, pastors, and associates of those facing these challenges. Her insight comes from years
of personal expierence with both primary and secondary
infertiliy and the miscarriage of one child. ~~~ ~Jenni~ Director of ~Hannah's Prayer~

What a wonderful book to read to get the Christian perspective on infertility. This book presents the moral dilemas and offers questions to determine your true feelings. I really enjoy the Bible passages that relate to each chapter. This is a must read for Christians experiencing infertility. It's a tough book to put down. Good luck on your journey.

A Godsend to those going through the hurdles of infertility,
By Niki Heberling (Sugar Land, TX United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Ache for a Child: Emotional, Spiritual and Ethical Insights for Women Suffering Through Infertility and Pregnancy Loss (Paperback)
More than any other publication regarding infertility - Bridwell speaks from her heart and at times I felt as if she were speaking from mine. Bridwell not only describes her challenges and triumphs, but also focuses on how family and friends may offer support to a couple going through infertility. My husband and I have given copies of this book to our family members and closest friends - so that they may truly have a glimpse of what we are going through.

Helpful Book for Infertile Christians,
By A Customer
This review is from: The Ache for a Child: Emotional, Spiritual and Ethical Insights for Women Suffering Through Infertility and Pregnancy Loss (Paperback)
This is a great book for Christians facing infertility. My only problem with it is the sections dealing with one's relationship with God. The author apparently never doubted God's existence (I have), never doubted the efficacy of prayer (I have) and always managed to maintain a solid faith (I haven't). I felt really spiritually inferior after reading that part of the book. Other than that, its a good book and I strongly recommend it.

Great for a christain woman when God seems so far,
By Fanny (Pasadena, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Ache for a Child: Emotional, Spiritual and Ethical Insights for Women Suffering Through Infertility and Pregnancy Loss (Paperback)
This book will re-energize the faith any christain woman who has been on her knees for long praying, and at some point asked "why God seems so far...?" The book explained that at this point, God is truly near and faithful no matter the pain of infertility.

This review is from: The Ache for a Child: Emotional, Spiritual and Ethical Insights for Women Suffering Through Infertility and Pregnancy Loss (Paperback)
This book was life changing for me. At a time where I felt hopeless and could not find anyone who understood the depth of my grief, Debra Bridwell's words and experiences hit home and brought hope and healing. This book has had the single-most long term impact on my life, other than the Bible. While no longer in print, this one is worth picking up where ever you can find it!

Great book on infertility,

This review is from: The Ache for a Child: Emotional, Spiritual and Ethical Insights for Women Suffering Through Infertility and Pregnancy Loss (Paperback)
This was a great book - there are discussion questions at the end of each chapter. The only thing we didn't like was that it was written for women, from a woman's point of view. We read the book together, and my husband felt men were stereotyped as being distant and unfeeling (which he is not). On the whole, the book was a good tool for us to get on the same page and have discussion.

This review is from: The Ache for a Child: Emotional, Spiritual and Ethical Insights for Women Suffering Through Infertility and Pregnancy Loss (Paperback)
This is the worst book I have ever read. Very discouraging. It is basically one woman's story of struggling to get pregnant. It is terribly out of date and down right depressing. I also found it quite meanspirited...one of the things said in the book was that scaring of the fallopian tubes could be a punishment from God for a bad lifestyle. I actually went and threw this book in the garbage.
