AN ACHE IN ALL CURS GOES THE EASEL,
By Stooge (Naperville, IL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: An Ache In Every Stake [VHS] (VHS Tape)
AN ACHE IN EVERY STAKE (1942) - An excellent Stooge short. The Stooges are icemen who decide to help a desperate lady by cooking for her husband's birthday party. This is one of the best Stooge shorts, and this just may be the best short that features Curly Howard's talents. In every scene, he steals his show with his hilarious facial and vocal expressions, his hilarious moves, and wonderfully timed gags. There's never a bad moment in this film. Even the ending is hilarious. A classic.CALLING ALL CURS (1939) - This short has the Stooges as operators of a dog hospital. A pretty good short. This has a lot of funny visuals in the hospital scenes. All those dogs were cute, and it must've been especially exciting for Curly to do this short since he loved dogs. The fight at the end is the highlight. POP GOES THE EASEL (1935) - One of the boys' earlier shorts. This one has the boys' as hoboes, ducking from a cop in an art school, and posing as art students. This short is most special in that it contains the very first pie fight (okay, so technically, it's not a pie fight here, but it's practically the same thing). Other special things about this film is that it's the first short directed by Del Lord, their best director, and this short features one scene with Moe and Larry's daughters (they're the two girls in the background when the Stooges are jumping hopscotch). A great film.

Good tape.,
By Kyle Cruse (Escondido, CA USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: An Ache In Every Stake [VHS] (VHS Tape)
AN ACHE IN EVERY STAKE is one of the best Three Stooges shorts ever made. In a way, it's a remake of the Laurel and Hardy classic, THE MUSIC BOX. However, the scenes where the Stooges are chefs is a brand new idea. The ending was hilarious. I almost died laughing at this short. CALLING ALL CURS was pretty funny. The whole short had some great scenes, especially when the dogs are all eating at the table. The fight at the end was pretty good. POP GOES THE EASEL- A very funny short. This is where the first Three Stooges food fight takes place. It's not exactly pies or food, but clay. An extremely funny clay fight at the end makes this a very funny short.

A Comic Masterpiece,
By Matt (Springfield, OH USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: An Ache In Every Stake [VHS] (VHS Tape)
For Stooge lovers, An Ache in Every Stake is the all-time classic. From Moe and Larry trying to get Curly's head out of a block of ice, to ending up with an ice cube at the top of the stairs, to the exploding cake. It's a "must see" if you truely love the Stooges.
