5.0 out of 5 stars Hazel Newman Becomes a New Woman, May 4, 2001
This review is from: Achieving It All (Paperback)
With her novel Achieving It All, Bengta Boydstrom looks at one woman's efforts to let the sexual revolution revolutionize her life. Set effectively during the late seventies, the novel traces Hazel Newman's changes as she seeks fulfillment.

Despite a loving marriage and a mostly satisfying life, Hazel wonders about all the fuss over female orgasms. Hazel tackles her journey with humor and tenacity: from the embarrassing arrival of a sex manual as a book-of-the-month selection, to her experimentation with sexual adventure, and to some surprising revelations.

Boydstrom's narrator offers way too much detail for polite conversation, but that bluntness adds not only to the novel's realism but also to its razor-sharp humor. Readers might share in Hazel's frequent blushing, but they will also share in her laughter and her sense of wonder.

Ms Boydsrtom writes with style and charm and Achieving It All is a funny, at times sad but always honest look at today's woman and the problems she faces in today's world. Women!! Good bless them. I'm thankful I'm a man...

5.0 out of 5 stars Crazy, zany and so true..., July 26, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Achieving It All (Paperback)
If you are female came of age when Masters first met Johnson and J. penned The Sensuous Woman, but never found the big O, this is the book for you. Men should not be afraid to read it either, especially if they have enough ego strength to laugh at a few jibs aimed in their direction. The pacing is almost like stand-up and each chapter ends with a punchline.
