5.0 out of 5 stars A True Look Into One Of Louisiana's Greatest Metal Bands, February 27, 2004
By
This review is from: Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg (DVD)
When I saw this DVD at a music store on Carrolton, I nearly jumped out of my skin. I couldn't believe what I was seeing. I bought it, went home, and invited some friends to come over and watch it. Much to our surprise, there's a show on there that we attended (at the Jungle Rock Hut in Gretna, LA), and those are my PA speakers on there that I used to lend to a local sound guy. Acid Bath was such an influential force in New Orleans metal, it is almost an honor to briefly see the top of my head in a crowd in their only video release. This DVD brought back so many fond memories of beer soaked nights, listening to Acid Bath pound the crowd into oblivion. This video captures all the sweaty grit and grime of this legendary group paying their dues in small clubs, and it shows how much they were loved by their fans. Every Acid Bath show was an experience, and I even had the opportunity to open for them a few times. I know it sounds like I'm hung up on my own personal experience with them, but watching this has got me reminiscing about paying cover charges, the filthy men's room at Zeppelin's, drinking with Sammy on the patio area of the Last Stop, the sad news of Audie's death, and so many other things of that era. Acid Bath were the heartbeat of the local music scene at that time, and not only does this DVD showcase the band's greatness, but it's also a bit of nostalgia. If you were here around that time, you know what I mean. When Marilyn Manson was in town recording Antichrist Superstar, they stumbled into the Last Stop, expecting everyone to bow at their greatness...but no one even paid them any mind. We had our own idols. Long live the legacy of Acid Bath.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg Lives Up To It's Name!, December 6, 2002

This review is from: Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg (DVD)
Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg lives up to it's name. This DVD spans almost the entire length of Acid Bath's time on earth. The quality of the videos in this DVD are decent at best. I guess that is why it is called a bootleg... Each clip on this DVD shows how much passion Dax puts into his music. I feel this DVD is worth buying just to see Dax in action. Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg also contains the only music video released by Acid Bath. This is a must buy for all Acid Bath fans!

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Addition to Your Acid Bath Collection, October 29, 2005
This review is from: Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg (DVD)
Newcomers to Acid Bath beware; if their style is not already entirely absorbed by you and endeared to you to the point where you own both albums, maybe a t-shirt or something, and know all the names of all the members of the band, etc... then this may not be for you YET. This is for hardcore fans of Acid Bath that can scream along every lyric of every song. Why? The quality of most of the videos on here range in terms of sound from poor to OK. Owning the music video of Toubabo Koomi is worth it alone though.

There are two full shows on here, a few practices, and the aforementioned infamous music video that without this DVD probably would have slipped through the cracks forever. There is also a few clips from various other shows. They are not displayed in perfect chronological order, but luckily the back of the DVD does tell you the date of every peeformance listed.

Watching the band in motion is a lot of fun, and if you are familiar with the songs enough that you don't care about the quality of the audio, this is a must have. Anyone who calls themself an Acid Bath fan should have this, anyway, at least for reasons based on the very principal of basic loyalty to the underground.

True Acid Bath fans, don't worry. You'll love it. Realistically, newcomers will not know what to make of it. I recomend a look at their cds, and when you're done with that, pick up a copy of this, and the new disc of all their demos that is being released in November.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acid Bath Fan's MUST HAVE, April 15, 2003

I bought this DVD as soon as it came out and it didn't leave my DVD player for 3 weeks. If you like Acid Bath's music, don't falter- BUY IT! Although it lacks much music from Pagan Terrorism Tactics (which is no one's fault since Audie died so early in the tour), you do get the Toubabo Koomi video and some footage from practices. All the show footage makes you feel as close as you ever could to being there, which is always nice when you were too young to ever see them when they were touring. (I know... poor me!) If you enjoy Dax's (or Daks as he spells it now) vocals, also check out Agents of Oblivion. For the hardcore Daks fans, check out his latest band Deadboy and the Elephantmen on the web...(Deadboy is not at all like Acid Bath so do NOT say I didn't warn you. It's very melodic, dark and calmer.)

4.0 out of 5 stars Severely underrated, March 10, 2006
This review is from: Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg (DVD)
If you are like me and never got to see Acid Bath, then this DVD is a godsend. Live tracks spanning their career are featured. The quality varies from show to show, but if you love Acid Bath, this DVD is more than worth your money and time. It's a shame they were never in a position to achive the greatness they should have.

Great selection of songs, rare performances and practices. Cool to see their practice spots. The only bad part is the crappy sound quality on some of the tracks but it IS a bootleg..

4.0 out of 5 stars Double Live Bootleg : Bootleg's an understatement, October 7, 2005
This review is from: Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg (DVD)
Well I believe it was mentioned in another review, but there is a reason this is called DOUBLE LIVE BOOTLEG. Bootleg just doesn't do it justice.

Now I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy this DVD. Since I never got to see Acid Bath perform, this is the closest one can get. There's not much else to say here, other than if you're an Acid Bath fan or at least claim to be, this a great addition to your collection. If you're just hearing about Acid Bath or this is your first purchase of their music, you might want to check out their CDs first.

5.0 out of 5 stars ACID BATH's final document?? I HOPE NOT!!, September 30, 2005

INFESTER (Not Germany circa 1930's!) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg (DVD)
ACID BATH was one of the greatest BAND's that ever exsisted!! EASY!!! they also compared to no other band that ever exsisted!! they were ALONE in their sound..I can compare them to SABBATH and HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST though!! which is the highest compliment a band can get!! these guys JUST OWNED!!!

You have to have this DVD if you have the albums!! WHY WOULDNT YOU??!!! there is a few unreleased(well on the IMMPOSSIBLE to find demos their there!) songs on here..plus some songs sound better live than on the albums!!

I remember waiting for this to come out..then not being able to FIND it!! I finally found it about a couple of months later!! youz can find it right here..SO BUY IT RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!

I hope someday ROTTEN RECORDS quit being FAGS(signing CRAP MALL CORE BANDS!) and release the ACID BATH demos all on one cd..I can dream at least cant I?? maybe they dont have access to their demos though..The members would sure make A LOT of CASH$$ if they did though..so if you see this ROTTEN or former ACID BATH members..ITS A GOOD IDEA!!

The best shows on here are the first full length in January of 94'..and another full length..at the ''WHISKEY'' in CA some time in 96'!! the later is the better of the two!! if not one of the best live performances I have ever heard/seen..to have been there IN person would have been the end of my LIFE.. FOR SURE!! every time I listen to this my head explodes!! HAILS!!!

A DOCUMENT IN TIME OF ONE OF THE PLANETS GREATEST BANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ACID BATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ACID BATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!ACID BATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

''THIS IS A SONG ABOUT YOU..''

4.0 out of 5 stars Acid Bath, November 23, 2008
This review is from: Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg (DVD)
It's not the best quality, BUT if you're an Acid Bath fan you won't care. Some of the audio isn't as clear because there are a lot of live sets and it's not exactly professional quality. If you're a fan there is a lot of old footage and it will totally entertain you despite the quality factor. If you're a Dax Riggs fan, you will also enjoy this DVD. It's really cool to see how far he has come, as well as the others who were with Acid Bath.

5.0 out of 5 stars corrections, June 16, 2005
This review is from: Acid Bath: Double Live Bootleg (DVD)
I haven't seen this DVD yet. But this is for one of those review people. Dax is spelled D-A-X not D-A-K-S. So next time you want to act like you know all about acid bath's frontman get the name right at least.
