Acme Made Smart Laptop Sleeve, MB Pro 15 (Wet Black Antik)

I purchased this product after returning a neoprene sleeve that didn't fit my MacBookPro13. I had put a Speck see-through case on my MacBook (which I also love) but it made it a tad too tight for the neoprene case. When I saw this product online, I figured I'd give it a try. I absolutely love this sleeve. It's got a soft inner liner, the MacBook is protected from the zippers with a liner on the underside of the zipper, and the detachable carry strap is very comfortable. And because it's a top opening zipper, I can put the whole thing inside my bigger wheeled case and just slide my Mac in and out without having to remove the sleeve first. The sleeve description calls it white, but it's more of an off-white, not a bright white, however, it makes is more sophisticated looking. The design is on one side and the other side is black. The whole case is lighter than the neoprene sleeve that I returned, plus the carry strap is excellent, strong, comfortable and removable. I just love this product. It does everything I was looking for and I get a lot of compliments on it too.

This is a stylish laptop sleeve designed for quick jaunts where all you need is a laptop, without charger or peripheral devices, or it can be slipped into a proper laptop bag or case. Although the description says that it's white, it's not entirely accurate. The color is closer to eggshell with small opalescent flakes and it truly stands out behind the black swirl patterns. Plus the sheen helps to set it off.

The back, sides, and bottom of the sleeve are constructed from a vinyl mesh material and there is a good amount of padding on the front and back (the sides and bottom have thinner padding). As far as it being water-resistant, I splashed some water on the (empty) bag and was glad to see the interior remained dry, however, this is not a sleeve you want to be caught with in a downpour minus an umbrella.

It comes with a detachable shoulder strap and the clasps are made of quality metal. The strap itself is made of a similar material as the back, side, and bottom of the bag, but it doesn't come with a shoulder pad. For short trips this isn't a problem, but with extended wear with a heavy laptop it can start cutting into the shoulder.

The zipper placement makes the computer easily accessible when slid into a messenger/briefcase style laptop bag, but a pain when slid into a backpack style laptop bag. With the latter you need to take the entire sleeve out of the bag in order to get to the zipper, but it's not a deal-breaker.

As far as the bag's capacity, although the description states that it will fit most 15" notebook computers, I found that my 15" Sony Vaio and my sister's 15" Toshiba Satellite were too big, but my other sister's 14" HP fit nicely. Since I already have a sleeve that works well with my Sony this wasn't a problem for me. I simply use this sleeve to carry my Wacom Intuos3 Tablet (medium); it fits perfectly, wires and accessories.

Overall, this is a great and great-looking sleeve, but if you aren't using a Macbook Pro notebook computer, I'd suggest testing it out first to make sure your laptop will actually fit.

UPDATE 8/20/10: After a couple months using this sleeve--I've been using it with my graphic tablet and my netbook (which also allows me to carry the charging cord and a portable external hard drive)--I wanted to update this review with some new experiences.

First, I've received numerous compliments on the design, so the style is in vogue.

Second, the interior flaps which are designed to protect your computer from the zipper continually get snagged, which is problematic esp. if you're in a hurry and need to zip up quickly. Also, the small bits of fabric attached to the zipper which you use to zip/unzip are not secured in any way which means it can slip off easily. These deficits aren't deal-breakers, IMO, but are annoying enough to warrant an update.

This is a very nice bag. It's light and looks great. My only complaint is that it could have really used some sort of small pocket. I know it's marketed as a sleeve, but since it does have a shoulder strap, it implies to me that it can be carried by itself. Somewhere to put my wallet or even just credit card would have been nice for when I go out with my computer and don't want to take another bag along. Other than that, great product!

This is a decent laptop sleeve for Macbook Pro users. It has a decent amount of padding and a soft neoprene interior, so it won't scratch your Macbook (although make sure the interior is clean of dust and dirt too). However, the sleeve is still pretty slim and should fit easily in your bag. While I hope it never happens, I would think the Macbook should be protected somewhat well if it were dropped with the sleeve on. The only thing I don't like about the sleeve is the exterior, which is a plastic-ky sort of layer. It doesn't feel that great when carrying with your hands; but then it does seem to help with grip, so you don't have to worry as much about dropping it. Overall, if you are looking for a decent and value-priced sleeve for your Macbook Pro, then this would be a good product to consider.

This is a very handsome laptop sleeve, the black on black exterior and deep purple interior are beautiful. If you love your sleeves snug, this is the perfect sleeve. If you, on the other hand, prefer a sleeve where you can easily slip your laptop in and out, pass on this sleeve.

This sleeve is supposed to be for fifteen inch laptops. In fact, it will only fit 15 inch laptops that are no more than one inch thick. That pretty much makes this sleeve only good for the 15 inch MacBook Pro, not much else. I tried two different "normal" laptops (a Sony Vaio E series and a Dell D690 series), they do not fit. 14 inch laptops might fit, but they will swim around inside this sleeve.

The biggest problem for me, this sleeve is just way too tight. Over time it might loosen up, but right now, it is very difficult to slide my MacBook Pro inside. The worst part is removing the laptop, there isn't a lot to grab at the top.

The sleeve does have that kind of foul vinyl odor that goes away if you leave it in the sun for a day.

The design is beautiful. The front is a matte black finish with subtle glossy black pin stripes. The back is a rugged nylon fabric. The interior is a beautiful soft deep royal purple velvet. The padding is just about perfect; the edges are even well padded.

This comes with a pretty useless detachable huge shoulder band. I can't imagine how anyone would ever use that strap; it makes the sleeve look horrible. There are no carrying handles on the sleeve.

If you like it really tight, this sleeve is for you. For me, it is just too tight and doesn't work for my 15 inch MacBook Pro.

This is exactly what I wanted for my laptop. I had looked at a lot of neoprene sleeves and none seemed to fit for what I needed one for. I wanted one mainly for travel when I stow my laptop in my wheeled carry-on and want it protected. This is perfect. I can put my laptop in this sleeve and into my carry on and quickly remove it for security checks and when I get on board and want to use it and then stow my suitcase up top. With the inside is a soft liner and your laptop is well protected and cushioned. It even has liner on the inside to protect from the top slot zipper. The detachable carry on strop is easy to pop on and comfortable to wear if you choose to do so that way. The decoration of the case is stylish and appropriate for my style. The black curlycues are drawn on an off-white almost almond color on one side and the other is all black. I also like using it as a cushion for my lap to put my laptop on and it help to keep my lap cooler. Perfect product for me and for a really good fair price....also very durable! If I had any complaint, it would be that it only carries the laptop BUT that IS what it is made for so I just stored my power cord in my suitcase as I didn't need it on board anyway.

This is exactly what it is advertised as... a low profile sleeve that you can fit in a bookbag, messenger bag etc. Think about Airport security, a lot of times you need to remove the laptop from a bag, but it is fine if you keep it in a sleeve. The whole point of the sleeve is that it isn't so big it fits your power adapter, lunch, keys, cables, etc. The floral design is a bit girly, but unlike the photo its most of matte black on glossy black. The inside is purple and there is a metal logo plate on front.

All in all I found the construction and quality very high... the padding seems thicker than some of the caselogic laptop bags I have seen and I wouldn't have any concerns about using this on a long trip.

Beautiful and elegant design for my 15" macbook pro...and even my ipad on top. The case is made for the laptop alone but I use it for both a laptop and my ipad and it works just fine...it has just enough room for both. When I pull it out of my backpack it warrants attention from others around me in that it looks nice and designed well. I have given the product info to many people and they have bought it....its a great product and deserves to be rated highly.

When spending on Apple products (and we all know they cost a pretty penny) it is essential to have good/great protection. This Acme case is that great protection which the laptop requires and it provides a beautiful design to boot...do away with the plain sleeves and add some design to your protection entourage.

My wife is liking this MacBook Pro sleeve quite a bit! It's got a glossy black, fairly feminine design on the front and hugs the MBP like a glove. Since the sleeve isn't designed to carry anything but the laptop, this thing works as advertised! There isn't an ounce of room for anything else, and it's a great travel companion for keeping the laptop safe and padded on trips where you just need the machine itself!

No handles on the case, just the shoulder strap... but I found the strap to be strong enough to not worry about it breaking or stretching. Nice product, very stylish...

An attractive but functional case for my laptop. It is a snug fit for my 15 inch HP notebook, but it does accommodate my extended battery which juts out from the battery well almost an extra inch. The case is shiny vinyl on the pattern side, plain on the other with a purple felt interior which makes losing random small objects less likely and protects the shiny surface of my computer from extra wear. Overall, slim and trim without any extra storage space if that is what you seek. It makes a great sleeve for using inside another non-computer designed bag, too, such as my rolling office bag. I am quite satisfied with it.
