4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome Death is always imported :(, December 28, 2007
This is a great CD. Although it contains a couple out-of-character / sound songs such as track 7 (Panacrea), their overall sound is great. Harsh vocals with female backup, extensive intros and melodic tonal shifts.

For those who are familiar with the genre here are some key style points on Sirrah:Acme
Harsh Vocals (Death ears required...or darklyricsCOM, hard to comprehend)
Male/Female Duo Vocal Harmonization. A few other bands that came to mind were whispering gallery, nightwish, etc...
Extensive INstrumental Break-aways
Simple musical structure (Old school Death)

For those who appreciate seraphim-like vocals contrasted by a harsh male lead singer w/ melodic tones and feel; Tracks 6, 9

For those who appreciate traditional death, Skip track 7, listen to most of 6 and 9 ^_^

Track 7 (Panacea) has awesome instrumentals and harsh vocals, however after about a minute into the song they break out the hairband opera metal-insanity...Also, the progression of the song makes me feel like I should be in some black and white movie strolling to work in a suit whistling...WTF? Out-of-sound song for sure, but interesting.

Track 5 (Iridium): My favoritre. I tried to find this song for 3 weeks on EVERY download site (AMazons included) and gave up. Had to get the import CD. Most people I have heard skip this song because of the intro..give it fifteen seconds!! The gargling or slurping thru straws or something is odd, but the simple form and awesome rhythm of this song make it one of their best. Sticking to the core Death here. I promise they don't use straws/gargling/random noises after the intro.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected, August 6, 2007
By stephen ward (TAS,AUSTRALIA) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I actually heard the track "ACME" off this album back 1998, and had it on a HIFI video tape of a metal radio show I used to record as it was on late at night and three hours long, thus the use of video tape to record all of it,and while having a clean out found the tape and had a listen to see if there were any good tracks I hadnt purchased, when I found "ACME" again, but the DJ sounded like he said the band was called "siria", of which I could find no reference, and since I couldnt understand any of the lyrics I couldnt even search the Dark lyrics website for them, but for some reason I suspected it might be on the "Beauty in darkness" compilations, so I searched Amazons track listings and there it was "ACME" by SIRRAH ,so I ordered this album as the track I heard was an awesome piece of gothic metal, almost as good as tristania. But unfortunately this version of "ACME" is like a demo version compared to what I heard on the radio. It is still a good piece of music,as are most of the tracks, besides the slightly quirky and out of place tracks "iridium" and "panacea".But it lacks the sort of production quality of many bands, which is a shame as both the male and female vocals are excellent, top quality, and being a polish band they have a bit of eastern european influence in their sounds ,which is a bit different and original ,especially in the other version of ACME. So having taken so long to get this track, and going to so much trouble, I thought I might as well buy the "Beauty in darkness" CD as well, which is only available second hand, and there it was,the version of "ACME" with much better production, a truly excellent track.I'm still glad I've heard this CD but even happier I have the other version.
