4.0 out of 5 stars Great product
I've been a fan of burt's bees products for years. The natural aspect is one of the stand out reasons, and also because they're reasonably priced and work well. I've had problems with acne for years, mostly cystic, and now if it's going to happen, it's usually around that 'time of the month' when my hormones are off their rocker.

1.0 out of 5 stars Didn't work for me.
This product didn't do a damn thing for my sensitive skin. I really wanted it to, too.
Hope it works for you, might as well give it a shot.

If it doesn't, try some of the Alba products. That worked much better.

This cleanser was thinner in consistency then expected, more just liquid then a gel. But it smells amazing -- lemony -- and it has a nice lather and leaves the skin feeling great. It doesn't feel drying or like it stripped my skin bare like a lot of acne products can. Actually pretty moisturizing, as I don't feel the need to add a moisturizer like I usually would after washing my face.

I like using a combo of products with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. I figure why go with one when you can hit potential break outs with both? This burt's bees cleanser is in the salicylic acid family, deriving it naturally from willow bark extract. It contains 1.0% Salicylic acid.

Also contains beet extract and evening primrose extract. It does not contain sulfates, parabens, phthalates or petrochemicals(as stated on the label).

4.0 out of 5 stars Natural? Who cares? It cleared up my skin, September 2, 2009
By
I am an adult acne sufferer and I believe it started when I became a zookeeper (dirt, sweat, stress). It's been about years since my flare ups got bad. I used about everything. I have been using this for two weeks, and not only has it cleared up pimples, but has very much reduced the acne "scabbing" that I get from my (very bad) habit of picking. This has also been the hottest weeks of the year (my worst breakout tine) I am incredible fair and have sensitive skin and my face has absolutley ZERO redness. My only issue is that my blackheads aren't clearing. Try it, it seems like it is worth the money because I haven't even made a dent in it, and I usually wash 3 times a day. Give it a shot!

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth it, October 1, 2009
I was excited to see that Burt's Bees has a new product line for acne. I've used it twice a day since I purchased it, and it cleared up the breakout on my forehead. Surprisingly, the gel wash has not stripped or irritated my skin. I've been using Acne Free for a year, and this acne wash has been more effective in a shorter time span. Its also cheaper. I really like the light, refreshing scent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best for me, December 16, 2011
This is hands down the best face wash I have ever used. Gentle and works very well for preventing acne. Also has a pleasant smell. FYI you can purchase at your local Walgreens for $9.99

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Amazing, October 20, 2011
I have had cystic acne/very oily skin for most of my adult life and been on a myriad of antibiotics, prescription/otc lotions and skin peels all of which eventually lead me back to severe breakouts.

The most effective acne solution I had come up with was Dr. Bronners Lavender and a prescription topical lotion called Duac which is clindamycin and 5% benzoyl peroxide. This still wasn't enough to stop breakouts of every size. I was also was extremely sick of bleaching out all my pillow cases, shirt collars, etc.

A close friend of mine mentioned this wash and I was an absolute skeptic. Salicylic acid had never worked well for me at all. On a whim, I bought it.

I began using this wash, along with the Dr Bronner's and in less than a week all the tiny blemishes that covered both my cheeks/jawline/neck were gone. My face is less red and much softer. The very few times I have broken out in deep painful cysts this wash got rid of them quickly and faster than the prescription lotion. I'm talking, a cyst that usually took months to heal was gone in a week. As a matter of fact, I no longer need or use the Duac. Now that I have been using this wash regularly twice a day for about 3 months now, I have had no cysts! For the first time in over a decade I no longer need to depend on prescription medication to give me the hope of clear skin. And all I have to do is wash my face.

No product is a miracle, diet, fluid intake and hormonal fluctuations can play a large part in your acne so before blaming a product there are other factors to take into account. The skin is the largest organ on the body, try listening to it. Every body is different but this wash certainly works wonders for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the Money, June 19, 2011
This review is from: Acne Purifying Gel Cleanser - 5 oz - Liquid (Health and Beauty)
Although I have only been using this product for a week, I would have to say that so far it is working great. After stopping the birth control pill after 8 years, my skin broke out horribly with little bumps all over. And while my husband and I are now trying to concieve, there was not much I could do about it. After starting to notice a damper in my attitude due to the acne, I decided to try Burt's Bees. In the week that I have been using the product (morning and evening) i have noticed a significant difference. My face is not completely clear but much much better. I hope it continues to work this well. While $10 may seem like a lot for an acne wash, it appears that the product will last quite a while as you only have to use a little bit each time. I will continue to buy this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best I've tried, March 29, 2011
This review is from: Acne Purifying Gel Cleanser - 5 oz - Liquid (Health and Beauty)
I love Burts Bee's Products and this is no exception. I know its a little more than your typical OTC facewash but its worth it. It leaves your face tingeling and feeling clean, and I have noticed my skin clearing up. This product is worth every penny, I buy it when I'm 1/2 way out now, to make sure I never run out.

4.0 out of 5 stars it works!, March 28, 2011
This review is from: Acne Purifying Gel Cleanser - 5 oz - Liquid (Health and Beauty)
I've tried Burt's Bees skin care products before, and have never been a fan of anything but their lip balms. However, their Natural Acne Solutions line is really great and--the important thing--actually works. I started out with just the moisturizer, and was happy enough with it to try the cleanser. A few things:

1. It is really more of a liquid than a gel. It lathers up nicely and leaves my skin feeling clean, but not dried out.

2. It smells kind of like lemon dish-soap to me. Can't say I particularly like or dislike the smell, but it's not a selling point.

3. The container is kind of a pain, especially compared to the moisturizer, which is so nicely packaged. I might try putting some cleanser in a foaming pump dispenser and see if that works any better. It's difficult to use the same amount of product every time since it kind of just pours out (and you really don't need much).

I've definitely noticed a difference in my skin. It is more even, less red and blotchy, and less prone to bumps/acne (after about 3 months of using this cleanser and about 4 months using the moisturizer). Don't think this is a magical serum that will make your face completely acne-free (although maybe for some people it will have that effect). I do still get acne occasionally, but this product along with the moisturizer have definitely improved the overall appearance of my skin, which is more than I can say for most products out there. Most importantly, it doesn't dry out my skin and doesn't have that harsh chemical-feel of many other products. Definitely give it a try if you're looking for a gentle cleanser to take care of blemished skin--I've found that this works quite well for me.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, natural product, August 7, 2010
This review is from: Acne Purifying Gel Cleanser - 5 oz - Liquid (Health and Beauty)
I have been a fan of many Burt's Bees lip products for years. I like the minimal packaging and natural ingredient focus of the company. During my recent pregnancy, I decided that I wanted to try and find a more natural, yet effective product to control my oily skin. This face wash has been a wonderful find for me.

It has a very thin, gel-like consistency. It produces a decent amount of lather, smells nice, and rinses easily. My skin doesn't feel dry or tight after using this product, while it does help to keep oil and acne under control. Finding the right balance so that my skin is clean but not irritated has been a tremendous challenge for years, and this product delivers. Even though it contains salicylic acid, it is gentle enough that my tween age daughter also uses this wash without irritation.

My one complaint is that I don't like the push cap that comes on the bottle. I would much prefer a pump dispenser. It would be much easier to control how much product I am using with a pump, rather than pouring it in my hand and hoping I get it right. Burt's Bees does have several other products with pump dispensers, so it shouldn't be too difficult for the company to begin placing pumps on these bottles.
