Intimates Sounds from Hearts,
By Yow Cheun Hoe (Singapore) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Acoustic Heart (Audio CD)
This is the first guitar album I have and I am glad it serves well as an introduction to how soothing and romantic guitar music can be.Artie Traum started the CD project with Jeff Heiman in 1996 to put together "a compilation of the most romantic acoustic guitar music of the past ten years." They set the criteria for this album that "all the songs had to be romantic and deeply felt." All the selected fifteen pieces inside the CD show that they did a good compilation job as each delivers intimate sounds from a guitarist's heart, penetrating the audience's ears and touching their hearts. For me, the piece I like most is Peppino D'Agostino's "Goodbye Robbie," which depicts well the feeling and concern about a good friend going away. Brian Hughes' "Sleeping Angles" and Peter White "By Candlelight" are very romantic, suitable to put them on when in the companion of a lover. But, believe me, you can have yourself touched and moved by other pieces in the CD. Artie Traum writes in the liner notes, "I'm convinced that music has the capacity to heal, to transform and to communicate. I can't prove it, but I believe it this: as the waves of sound spread outward, they seep quietly through the world, like mist on a warm summer night." Actually Traum has proved it and this album is strong evidence.

As an 'acoustic junkie', this CD is great. It is so relaxing and so beautiful. I have fallen asleep to this.....
True talent. Mellow, soft and pleasing to the ear. This is a CD I would play for my children if I had any. So for now, the pets have to suffer through it. So, if you are looking for a soothing acoustic CD, check this one out. Play some of the samples, and I believe you'll enjoy it as well.

Very enjoyable original riffs. Mellow, without being catatonic. No fake synth backgrounds, thank God. Just plain, raw talent, and pleasing sounds. Expect to get at least six or seven useable tracks, more if you aren't as ridiculously picky as I am. If you like the samples, you won't be disappointed with the rest.
