5.0 out of 5 stars Guitar music unlike any you've heard before......., March 14, 2000
This review is from: Acoustic Highway (Audio CD)
For fans of guitar music, this is an album that should not be missed. Craig's deft fingers and extraordinary melodic skills, coupled with Ozzie Alher's production talents, make this album one of the freshest sounding recordings I've had the pleasure of hearing! I have also had the pleasure of seeing over 15 "live" performances by Craig (it helps to live in his hometown), and can honestly say that if he plays in your area - Don't miss it! His live shows are a real treat and sound amazingly true to his recording performances. Four years ago I took my then girlfriend (now wife) to a Craig Chaquico concert at the Sweetwater in Mill Valley, CA for our first date and it was pure magic! For another treat, check out From the Redwoods to the Rockies album he did with Russ Freeman from The Rippingtons - another 5 Star recording!

This Craig Chaquico album is absolutely awesome. I originally bought it because of his great talent with Starship. I've never gotten tired of it and love it all times of the day and in my car.

Finally, I met Craig over a 4 day period in Boston a number of years ago. He is very warm, welcoming and humble. An extra bonus that this "star" is so down to earth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Acoustic Highway: A Melodic Museum, February 18, 2001

This review is from: Acoustic Highway (Audio CD)
Acoustic Highway is without doubt the purest of all Chaquico albums. The instrumental landscapes he paints with majestic melodies and Native American earthbeats spread the complete spectrum of sense and emotion. Each song on this album contains nostalgic undurcurrents of innocent, child-like adventure. Have you ever actually "heard" the stars come out at night? Have you ever actually "heard" the smell of Californian Redwoods while at home in front of your stereo? Chaquico uses layers of tracs with sound effects and surround sounds to bring the listner into a new, pseudo-world. Chaquico is no doubt a genius SONGWRITER. His songs are at the same time crafted and improvised, held-back and let-loose. This man can jam. Great roadtrip music. A must buy. Title trac #5, "Acoustic Highway," truely reaches a cathartic moment by the end of the song. Check it out!

Many have told that this was Craig's debut release. To see Craig's development as a solo artist, this is the MUST HAVE CD. This CD was a pioneer in its format. Every track is unique. A new and fresh picture every time you hear each track on the CD. I beleive later CDs match the artistry of this one, I suggest you still check this out.

5.0 out of 5 stars His best album without a doubt!, May 17, 2004

This debut album from Craig Chaquico is absolutely incredible! None of his following CDs come anywhere close to this because they cater more to smooth jazz but this debut album is absolutely amazing and pure quality. "Sacred Ground" is a grand New Age pop classic with amazing 12 string guitars and great atmospherics. The final track "Sunset Altar" is euphoric bliss with it's eerie and suspensful tone. The title track is a rocking danceable classic with a rockish instrumental sound beyond words! I love this whole album in fact and strongle recommend it!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars His First and Best, March 12, 2004

If you only have enough money to buy 1 of Craig's albums, buy this one. This was my first, and in my opinion his best, and it influenced me to buy the rest as they were released. If this album had been a vinyl disk it would have been worn out long ago from being played over and over. Every cut is superb.

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, November 18, 2003
This review is from: Acoustic Highway (Audio CD)
I'm not much of a light jazz/new age listener, but i love any type of good instrumental guitar music, and i definitley think anyone who likes good instrumental rock guitar like Yngwie Malmsteen or anyone who likes good jazz-fusion guitar like Pat Metheney should check Craig out- he is a true acoustic legend....

ive listened to this one and Acoustic Planet, my next one to check out will be Once in A Blue Universe

5.0 out of 5 stars Tasty, cool stuff, great for lifting your sprits, March 16, 2003
This review is from: Acoustic Highway (Audio CD)
Craig made a great move from Jefferson Starship to give us music lifts the soul, but does not interfere with work, reading or just plain enjoying non-verbal communication. I highly recommend you also listen to all his other CD's. All the folks at work really like when I play Craig's music, and I like it because they stay productive.

I'm indebted to the colleague who introduced me to Craig Chaquico! His artistry and love for his instrument in evident in every track, and there is enough variety in style on this CD to hold the interest of any listener. If you buy this CD, it is likely it will not long remain the only one by Craig Chaquico in your collection. Worth every penny! Guitar players, this is a CD you must own!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent collection of Craig's special talent, June 22, 1998
This review is from: Acoustic Highway (Audio CD)
This is Craig's first album and he expertly explores the full dimensions of the acoustic guitar. His exquisite treatment of each passage creates mental images of the music. My favorite is Sacred Ground. It's native american influence is pure and unmistakable.

As good as this is, the next albums are as good or better.
