3.0 out of 5 stars Adequate - but pricey, August 12, 2008

I purchased these because I could get super saver shipping and because they use a set screw type binding. positive they did accept 12g speaker wires and the set screw (singular) was well machined and worked fine. Negative the vinyl insulating sleeve was too loose. If you do purchase these I would suggest you use heat-shrink tubing to secure the fitting to the wires. as the supplied insulator is likely to slip off whenever you try to remove it from a connection.

5.0 out of 5 stars good stuff, January 24, 2010
This review is from: Acoustic Research AP307 Speaker Banana Ends, set screw type, 2 pr./pkg Red/Black (Electronics)
I have had these for a couple of years now and they are great. The opening measures 4mm and the screw post makes them easy to upgrade to larger wire and holds the wire securely. The banana fit is very secure in my Sony receiver but the connector pulls out easy enough when you want to. I did not have any problems with the cover slipping off and if I did have that problem I would clean them with alcohol to remove any oils from installation and use strategic heat from my heat gun to work it a little bit or something. I feel that complaint is very minor though because once they're on, they do not fall off by themselves. Everyone knows that gold plating is great for resistance to surface corrosion and good looks but copper and silver are better conductors. For less than ten bucks these can't be beat. Oh yeah, the overall length is 4.2cm. The rubber covers are 2.8cm long. The metal part extends 3.2cm from tip to opening. The banana tip is 1.4cm long and you can shove almost 1.5cm of wire inside but you only need between 7 and 8mm for a good fit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok, but not Great, September 7, 2008

These are ok but not great. Fairly light weight. Thread on one striped out when I tried to tighten set screw. Ok if you plan to install and leave in-place but would suggest something a little more robust if you plan to handle them often.
