4.0 out of 5 stars easy connection from your digital video camera to your Mac
This is the way to go for a seamless upload of digital video to your Mac. In my case, the 4-pin end plugs right into my Panasonic digital palmcorder, and the 6-pin end into one of the Firewire ports on the back of my iMac. As soon as you turn on the video camera, iMovie recognizes it and can immediately begin controlling the camera (play, stop, rewind, etc.) and...

1.0 out of 5 stars Stopped working
I use this cable to connect my Sony Mini DV Cam to my Windows XP computer.

When I first used this product, it worked for about a week. It was pretty neat being able to control (i.e. play, fast-forward, rewind etc...) the cam-corder from my computer. Then it mysteriously stopped working. When I ran the diagnostics everything passed (10 or so separate tests) until the...

1.0 out of 5 stars Stopped working, November 20, 2003

I use this cable to connect my Sony Mini DV Cam to my Windows XP computer.

When I first used this product, it worked for about a week. It was pretty neat being able to control (i.e. play, fast-forward, rewind etc...) the cam-corder from my computer. Then it mysteriously stopped working. When I ran the diagnostics everything passed (10 or so separate tests) until the last step when the diagnostics program said the camera was not plugged in (even though it was).

Remembering that the cable had a lifetime guarentee, I tried to contact Acoustics Research at the Web address on the package (Acoustics-Research.com) only to get an error saying that the server could not be found.

I paid $... (Canadian) for this cable, and to me this is an awful lot of money. With this type of a price tag, you expect a higher level of service. If Acoustic Research can't provide decent service, they should not have a 1000% mark up on the cable. I'll never buy, or recommend an Acoustic Research product to anyone again in my life.
