I almost did not purchase this product because of previously poor reviews; however, I saw that the Acoustic Research 3-way splitter, identical to this one in every way except for the number of connections, had received very good feedback. So I decided to take a chance on this one, and I'm glad I did!

Contrary to what I had read from another reviewer, this splitter did not cause any signal degradation. I am using it with two digital cable boxes and good-quality coax cables, and both signals are strong; the picture and sound are crystal clear despite having been split into two. The purely digital and premium movie channels I subscribe to also are perfectly clear.

I should mention that I did contact my cable company before installing the splitter to ensure that my signal strength was strong enough to work with such a device. They assured me that nine times out of ten, the signal strength coming into a house should be strong enough to split at least two ways and usually even three. Perhaps the one-star review of this product came from someone who was that rare one out of ten people with weak signal strength?

Since this splitter costs less than many others (such as Monster) and works just as well, I don't see why anyone would want to buy anything else. Go for it!

Short Review- Replaced my old 1000mhz splitters that my cable company gave me and my ping/download speed greatly improved. Before I was at 24000 kbps from speedtest.net, now I am at 30000kbps. My upload speeds also increased but not by much.

Great build, great quality. 24k gold contacts are a nice touch for my 24k gold coxial cables from acoustic research.

A few years ago when our cable installer was here he said that the cable and Internet CANNOT be on the same cable outlet with a splitter. I took him at his word, but then I found out he was wrong. You just needed a particular type of splitter, and this is one that works well.

I always use gold plated connectors to improve signal quality, and this was a good choice for the price.

It comes in an impressive blister pack which has to be cut open with a box cutter, which can be annoying to some. It also includes two screws to attach it to the wall.

Overall, I'm very pleased with the quality, and I usually try to buy either Monster brand cables/connectors or Acoustic Research because the quality has never let me down nor have I had any trouble with any of their products.

It is big but I liked the heft of this splitter. I esp. like the large signal range the splitter handles. For those of you who may not know, older pre-HDTV splitters may cause choppy HDTV signals, as they will accidentally cut-off the signal that HDTV uses but still allow standard television signals to come through just fine. This splitter should not have that issue.

This product is an excellent cable splitter. I'm using it to split HD cable and a cable modem. Upon hooking it up I saw a slight improvement in the picture quality. I was previously using a 1GHz splitter supplied by Comcast. I am very happy with the Acoustic Research splitter.

This performs just one function: splits a video feed from one source to two receivers. Back with NTSC (never the same color), the source was generally bad enough to begin with, as well as low-bandwidth, so that splitting a feed was hardly noticed with cheap splitters. It always seemed relatively simple.

With HD, a cheap splitter can really be painfully obvious while receiving just one HD feed. But turn on both receivers -- each taking a different HD feed -- and you'll know fairly quickly if you have a PoC splitter.

* Means to measure: a sharp, discerning eye (or two) -- or better yet, get a grip (the kind with a truck).

* Helpful Accessories: a fast Mac with Elgato's EyeTV (a digital receiver that turns a Mac into a DVR).

Inspect the video feed before and after by doing screen captures on the Mac, zooming into at least 400%, and look for an increase in artifacts or noise.

The before and after Acoustic Research PR430 Splitter images were virtually identical.

It's doesn't get any better than that.

What's not to like--the price was right, the product was great, they shipped it almost as fast as I ordered it. I would highly recommend this product.

It works as well as the splitter the cable company has. Cannot tell any difference. So it works OK. No complaint.

I bought this splitter so I could hook up my 2 tuner Tivo Series 3, and my Charter Cable box for on demand and Pay per view. I checked the signal strength on 30 different channels before and after hooking up the splitter. There was no detectable loss in signal.

It is a nice looking video splitter, nothing more. At least I did not notice any improvement in signal quality when using this AR product. So, it's not clear what the "high performance" in this product means. Less noise perhaps or less signal degradation. Compared to my previous "ordinary" splitter, the signal looks fairly the same. So, no big deal!
