Acoustic companion to one of 2008's best albums,

This review is from: Acoustic Vagabonds (Audio CD)
Gary Louris' "Acoustic Vagabonds" was previously made available as a bonus CD from certain retailers when "Vagabonds" was released. This disc is like being at a quiet in-store appearance with Gary, featuring acoustic arrangements of tracks from that record. This version of the title track alone is worth the price of this disc. Hearing the songs performed with stripped-down acoustic instrumentation still reveals how strong this work is. If you're a Jayhawks/Gary/Golden Smog fan, this is a worthy addition to your collection.

These songs are acoustic versions of some tracks from the lp Vagabonds. The stripped downed sound makes for a great listen to these 6 tracks. If you have the original lp already, this disc is still a great addition to your collection. Being a fan of the Jayhawks, I was really looking forward to this release. It did not dissapoint. I still hope the Jayhawks record again, but if they dont, the team of Chris Robinson and Gary Louris seem to fill the void nicely

Makes you appreciate the album even more,
By freereign (Ocean of Corn, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Acoustic Vagabonds (Audio CD)
This accoustic version is for the ages. It reveals the songs in a stripped-down format so you notice what an accomplished songwriter Gary Louris is. After hearing this limited edition release, the songs resonate that much more when you go back to the album versions. You can appreciate Chris Robinson's approach to producing the album more also, when you realize how carefully he built the sounds around the songs without taking the songs into another context.Worth every penny.
