5.0 out of 5 stars Versitility, July 26, 2005
This review is from: Acoustics (Audio CD)
I was lucky enough to hear this album at Floater's CD realease. They literally used like 10 different accustic instrument including a squeeze box, trumpet, and standing bass. The show itself impressed the hell out of me and was followed by a full electric set, where they played all the fan favorites. I purchased the CD, brought it home and was very impressed with quite a few songs that I recognized from the show. The album slowly dug under my skin, and I was soon listening to the entire thing without skipping any songs. I am not going to try and pump up floater and endorse them because they are my favorite band, and any opinion I have about their music is jaded. But I find that with this album they bridge a gap that few rock bands can--they reach out to nearly every age group with their lyrical, vocal, and instrumental versitility. This is a fact. But in my *opinion* Acustics was the very best of it's respective year and will be recognized someday for what it is worth, but hey I think it's sales rating is like 26,000 so their genius may never be realized. So if you are reading this then you heard about floater somehow, give it a spin then goin hands with the indie rocker down the street, the metal head who is always in his garage, and grandma--grab a 12 pack of bucsh and listen(sing along) to one of the finest albums in time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Floater does it again., August 5, 2004

Although much softer and completely acoustic, Floater has done it yet again. With Acoustics, the Eugene trio delivers a passionate, angry, yet loving and calm, and ultimately moving album. So sit back and prepare for a musical intoxication that only Floater can provide.

5.0 out of 5 stars I never get tired of this album, June 10, 2011

I have been a fan of Floater since they started. When I got this album, I instantly fell in love. It's not as hard as the others but still has that raw flavor I love. If I were alone on an island and could only take one CD with me, this would be it. Of course, I'd have to have a nice supply of batteries to listen to the CD.

Sitting at the album release party at the Crystal Ballroom. I heard something for the first time at a Floater show....Fans Boo'ing Floater. I myself did not expect had followed for the next hour or so. But if you go back to Floater and Henry's Child. That is the essence of them. Acoustic shows at Tommykockers and such, where they just play to do what they love, in the way they want. The deep, cutting lyric's from Rob are still there and the talented guitar from Dave as always. But added is trumpet, bongo's , chimes , piano and more. All thre show Peter is not the only one who can play a drum. They show there true range of talent on this album and it is one of their best and one of my favorites now. Surprise Floater Fans .... Our Beer Garden / Club band has grown up and out of the N.W ....Thank you Rob , Pete and Dave( Floater ) for taking the time doing what you do, in the way only you three can. Tim N.
