Excellent MtB Album,

This might be the best MtB album. It breathes new life into old songs. "Pachuca Sunrise" is even more beautiful in this acoustic setting, and
"We Are Not a Football Team" is much better than the original. Highly recommended.

Wow what a great acoustic set. I can't take it out of my cd player. If you are a minus the bear fan you must have this cd. If you're not yet a fan, you will be after listening to this cd.

Good exploration of laid back acoustic arrangements,

This is a pretty decent "unplugged" type of album, though it isn't from a live performance. It is fairly short, at only seven tracks, and all the songs on the CD with the exception of "Guns & Ammo" have been released on prior albums. It also lacks the typical polished and highly produced sound that the band's other studio albums shine with. There are even a few imperfections performance wise.
It does, however, show that the band's songs hold up quite well even in such a raw and simple environment. If you are used to the way the studio recordings sound, then prepare for some surprises - both in terms of musical arrangement and vocals. All in all, it's a pleasant listen, especially if you're in the mood for some laid back and relaxing tunes. |
