This CD was sent to me by a friend who I'd hiked with in Italy. I'd never heard of Riccardo Tesi and I had no particular interest in Italian music. But this has become one of my most played CDs out of a collection of maybe 500. Not only that, but it's the CD people always ask to hear when they come to my house. The music is hard to describe. Although it's called modern tuscan folk music the production is very polished and the arrangements are often complex and exciting. I don't speak Italian, but I can tell you that the music ranges from children's counting songs to love songs. It's the kind of stuff that you'll find yourself whistling hours later. The kind of stuff that is great for playing through headphones when you go walking. The singing is amazing and the musicianship is marvelous, but in the end it's the songs themselves that are so striking. Buy this CD. Really! You won't regret it. If, like me, your idea of Italian music is Dean Martin and Opera, this will open whole new vistas.
