Each chapter of this supplementary case book includes summaries, self-tests, and key terms, and highlights Finding a Balance, which discusses the blending of personal style with theoretical preferences. This discourse helps students to integrate multiple theories and develop critical judgment in choosing interventions. Each chapter includes 3-5 cases positioned to require students to increase their levels of independence in case conceptualization and treatment planning. Reprinted from a scholarly journal, the annotated articles in each chapter exemplify research related to the theories discussed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very readable, September 19, 2005
This is a refreshing change: a textbook that's readable, even entertaining at times. The author doesn't write in smarter-than-you "scholarese" & leave you to translate to plain English, but instead writes as if speaking to an intelligent person who doesn't happen to be familiar with the field. I like the bios of the major theorists, and the case studies used for illustration: after all, "people persons" like to hear about real people.
