With an estimated 6 million Acrobat Readers installed to date, the Acrobat Portable Document Format (PDF) has become the standard, cross-platform method for sending and receiving formatted documents online. No matter what kind of system the original PDF file was created on, it can be read on any other system. This makes Acrobat valuable for all kinds of electronic and online publishing.Acrobat 3 for Macintosh and Windows: Visual QuickStart Guide is the best way to get up and running quickly with Acrobat. The book focuses on creating and editing PDF files, and teaches how to make PDF files available as Web pages. In addition to teaching Acrobat-specific techniques, the book also provides basic page design principles, tips, and techniques. New features in Acrobat 3 include support for forms and buttons, and the ability to provide single pages to web browsers.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com Review

The Visual Quickstart Guide gives a mercifully concise overview of dealing with all aspects of Adobe Acrobat, from installing the software and viewing documents in Acrobat's PDF file format to creating your own Acrobat documents using the Acrobat Distiller. If you need to use Acrobat but don't know where to start, this inexpensive and unassuming guide devotes just about the right amount of time and energy to the subject. All in all, it's a smart overview of the Acrobat system.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best buy for Acrobat instruction!, July 7, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Acrobat 3 for Macintosh and Windows (Visual QuickStart Guide) (Paperback)
As an instructor for universities and private institutions in Toronto, Canada, I review plenty of books, in hopes of finding reasonably-priced books that offer useful information for my students. This book by Ted Alspach is much cheaper than many other Acrobat 3 books, and the book's format makes it easy to find the information you need quickly and easily. There's not many books under $20 that are worth buying; I'm glad to say this is one of them!
