Delightfully lush ambient soundscapes,
By Bryan O'Sullivan (CA, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Acrocosm (Audio CD)
Savvas Ysatis, aka Omicron, produced an oft-overlooked gem in 1994 with this album. His music here is warm and enveloping, with carefully-layered textures that reward repeated plays.Although "Acrocosm" has an unmistakably analogue feel to it, with much careful use of pops and clicks, and filters shaping sounds into and out of the foreground, it manages to sound beautifully naturalistic in a way that reminds me of Boards Of Canada's "Music Has The Right To Children", albeit with a more German feel. This is one of my favourite ambient albums, and rarely spends more than a few weeks at a time out of my player. |
