5.0 out of 5 stars very good book, January 26, 2001

This review is from: Across the Mekong: The True Story of an Air America Helicopter Pilot (Hardcover)
If you are interested in a well written book on the secret war in Laos, this is the best I have read. The author's descriptions of the country and the people, including the many hill tribes, are what holds your attention. I learned more about the CIA"s role in the wars of Indo-China, than in any book I have read. A real page-turner and I felt I was riding along with the author in his helicopter.

This review is from: Across the Mekong: The True Story of an Air America Helicopter Pilot (Hardcover)
If you want to know what really happened in Laos during the Vietnam conflict from someone who was really there, this book is exactly what you need. A no-nonsense, naked account of a CIA pilot's wartime life, both in combat and off-duty. The real Air America, in vivid pictures and words, straight from the horses mouth.

5.0 out of 5 stars real truth, April 12, 2000

Real truth is one of the rarest things that I have ever encountered.Charlie Davis is my best friend. That is because he is honest and truthful to a fault. He is also extremely intelligent, sensitive, and very articulate, in his homespun way. If you value absolute truth, that is what you will find in his book--no sugar-coating and no bull (that's another reason he is my friend).

It is a very moving and satisfying experience to have a glimpse at the private thoughts of this wonderful man. Enjoy!
