5.0 out of 5 stars Beau is a wonderful leading lady! December 7, 2004
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I have no complaints when it comes to this book. Beau is a excellent heroine. I grow tired of leading heroines depending on a guy for everything, even though they say their independent. That is definetly not the case with Beau, shes intelligent, witty and passionate. She does her job to the T so no one can say she didn't earn her palce on the ship. She has a tongue thats quick and can sometimes land her into trouble but thats part of her charm. Across a Moonlit Sea was the first book I read by Marsha Canham, and when my copy got lost, I had to buy another one, cause I couldn't get the story out of my head! This is a serious page tuner, and a book I often pick up when I want a guarenteed good read. I'm now searching for more books by this talented author!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dante's Sea March 17, 2000
By A Customer
Format:Mass Market Paperback
When I started reading this novel I got hooked in about five (5) minutes. This is a must read novel. Marsha Canham puts everything you need to make an exiting combination of romance, adventure, a love-hate relantionship, laughter and of course what is a romance novel without sex (let me tell you this woman has a very fertile imagination, if not an adventurous love life!). I loved this novel so much that is one of the many that I re-read every few months and I don't tire of reading it. I found myself wishing to be the adventutous Isabeau and hoping to find the dashing Dante. Everyone that loves adventure and a great romance, and a damselle that is not in very much distress, must read this novel. It will capture your heart for ever.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Pirates Delight August 8, 2002
By C. S.
Format:Mass Market Paperback
I absolutely loved this book. I think Marsha Canham did a great job of writing this book. There seemed to be a few facts in the story that I believe were incorrect, but no big deal to me. Her discription of all the characters was wonderful; especially the cook. It actually made me laugh out loud. Her description of the ship and it's manoeuvres seemed right on. This book was adventurous, humorous and sexy enough for me to truly not want it to end. I have never kept a book with the intent of ever reading it again, but I do not want to part with this book just in case. I love pirate stories and this one did not disappoint me at all. I hope you find it as enjoyable as I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars some of my favorite Canham characters yet June 13, 2011
By AJ
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This was the 6th Canham book I have read thus far, and I truly love her style: her dialogue, the wit, the plots, the characters and their adventures. It's just pure fun- nothing terribly enlightening, but certainly great entertainment. If that is what you are looking for, look no further.

Simon Dante and Beau Spence, hero and heroine of this book, were 2 of my favorites. I love stories with strong female characters. Some of Canham's previous heroines were privileged society flitters, about to be married off to some boring, dull, and vacuous existence, who eventually evolve, through their experiences, into something of substance. Beau Spence is not that. She begins with substance. She is the daughter of a sea-faring merchant, and part of the crew. She is feisty, but not out-of-control-feisty like Courtney Farrow from "The Wind and the Sea." She is smart, and valued for her intelligence as a cartographer and navigator as well as her other seamanship skills. She holds her own among the men, and never flaunts her advantage at being the captain's daughter. She is well-respected among the crew, and her father.

Her relationship with Simon does not start with the electricity from an unexpected brush of skin, as do most of Canham's characters. Rather, they take their time building their trust, and Simon comes to respect her intelligence and skill on board the ship. She has no use for him - initially - and does not swoon and faint when he is within 2 feet of her- instead, she insists he stay away from her, and when they finally connect, she says "this cannot last." Finally, a female who has a spine and some sense of control over her own fate.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Pirate Wolf Series, Book 1 and Book 2 August 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Across a Moonlit Sea is book 1 of the Pirate Wolf Series featuring Isabeau Spence and Simon Dante. The Iron Rose is book 2 of the series which features their daughter Juliet Dante and Varian St. Clare. Isabeau is the daughter of Jonas Spence and the famed Black Swan. When her path crosses with Simon Dante, whom they take aboard their ship, sparks fly and the battle of wills is tested. Both characters are strong in spirit and attitude. The Iron Rose continues the series when their daughter, Juliet, captain of the Iron Rose, rescues an attacked ship and brings Varian St. Clare, 12th Duke of Harrow to meet her father as he has been entrusted with a message for his from the king. Varian must prove himself to Juliet is he ever expects to win her heart. Both books are fabulous for historical mysteries. If you are tired of the same historical mystery genre, this series will enthrall you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Another Great Marsh Canham novel January 3, 2012
By Loree
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is my second Marsha Canham novel. I loved it as much as the first one and just downloaded my third one. The fighting scenes are so well described you feel as though you are there. Her dialogue between characters is superb and her love scenes leaving you sighing. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a well-written historical romance.
