I've read this series twice--they are that good, and they are still on my bookshelf. This paperback edition is a cheaply printed, abridged edition of the wonderful first book. I lent my full-length edition out and it was lost. This replacement is not a fitting substitute in the full-length series. However, a set of these shortened works would be good for young(teenage) readers (esp. ELLs--English Language Learners) who can't handle something as long as Harry Potter but is just as interesting. I referred to this set as "Harry Potter in ancient Japan" to my grandchildren.
