Book Description

Sean Thayer, a police officer and former special operative, has lost his family. Thayer takes a forced vacation from his duties as a police officer and starts to have fun...making new friends, when a terrorist attack changes everything. Sean is asked to join an attack force to counter the world-wide terrorist assault. He must decide between protecting close friends and answering the call to duty. Meanwhile, an old friend and ally fights to survive terrorist captivity. Thayer calls upon his experience as a counter-terrorist operative to do everything in his power to stop those who threaten him, his friends, his country, and foreign allies.

Kenny Luckett was born and raised, and still lives, in Tennessee, a farmer's son who knows hard work. After graduating from Freed-Hardeman University and from the Police Academy in Donalson, on the outskirts of music city, Nashville, he served as a police officer for thirteen years. He now writes, runs, dives, and hunts, when not travelling in the U.S. and Europe for research on his novels.

5.0 out of 5 stars Classic Action January 13, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
Sean Thayer is the type of character I miss from movie's today. Indeed a lot of 'Across The Pond' plays out like a classic action movie - a resourceful and quick-thinking hero, a deadly threat with huge stakes and the idea of family at the center. Author Kenny Luckett writes with the authority of someone who understands law enforcement and special ops. His characters feel fully dimensional and real. If you like authors like Tom Clancy and Brad Thor, you will enjoy this fast-paced thriller.

5.0 out of 5 stars “Across the Pond” - Almost from the Headlines October 24, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
That major characters Angela Gresham and Danny, her son, will manage to avoid life-altering tragedy – and possible death – throughout the pages of this book is never a guarantee. It’s fast-paced; just as you figure it’s going to settle down now, and plod along for a bit – wrong! Another plot twist – entirely plausible – and you’re reading another few pages, another chapter …

I don’t usually read suspense fiction, but I began to really care what happened to the characters in this novel as the events (which sound like headlines today) revolving around a mix of terrorist acts and the simple, vulnerable pleasures of home and family play off against each other.

Good read. Good work by the author, who’s put as much research and planning into his novel as he did in his former career as a police officer. (He took several trips to London and the surrounding area to get the setting correct.) The police characters talk, act and react like real people - Luckett's good at portraying the human side of law enforcement.

Not a book to read at the airport while waiting for your flight, by the way. Otherwise you may chew your nails more than ordinarily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Genre-bending and very enjoyable February 19, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Luckett delivers an unpredictable plot in this novel that prizes liberty and family. He takes notes from current events and has weaved them into a story that will have you guessing and laughing. It's very interestingly written. I like the different points of view. These policeman voyage to find the enemy while encountering intense moments of action and emotion.

I read the reviews first and I agree that there's something classic about the style and tone. I didn't know the extent of the authors research, such as visiting London, but it shows! Very intriguing. The news bits were done very well; some authors get carried away or the news doesn't sound like news at all. Luckett rightfully places them in Across the Pond. For a longer book, this didn't take me long to read at all! I think readers will agree it keeps your interest.

5.0 out of 5 stars Across the pond November 29, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
If you enjoy suspense fiction you’ll find, “Across The Pond,” good reading. This is a well written, page turning story that is intriguing and convincing; Probably because the author was a police officer for over a decade. A great story with great characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Has a Jeffery Archer sort of feel March 1, 2014
By DCM
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
THis one was a welcome relief to the incessant cop-serial killer, and teenage vampire stuff that dominates indie writing these days. It is a true 'yarn' in the spirit of Archer, Ken Follett, and maybe Harold Robbins.

The story follows a man who loses his family in an accident and while in recovery meets the widow and son of a former military comrade. They begin to bond, and while on a cruise are drawn closer by a terrorist act. Lots of twists and turns, but what really sells this story is the style of writing, and strong characterization.

You very likely havent read one like this in a while. Treat yourself. Highest recommendation.

5.0 out of 5 stars great story Kenny Luckett March 13, 2014

Very enjoyable. Very believable with what is going on in the world today. Loved the way you twined espionage with a love story of the young and not so young. Merged Britain with America and the USA PLUS THE Middle East. Recognized so many English places from my youth. Great story. Congratulations!

Sorry I forgot to press stars. I give you an absolute 5 stars
