Considered the most comprehensive drug text on the market, Goldberg's four-color text encourages readers to examine the motivation for drug use, social implications of drug use, legal ramifications, and factors affecting how drugs interact with the human body. It provides a look at the history and culture surrounding drug use and abuse, key information regarding specific types of drugs, and a review of drug treatment, education, and prevention approaches and programs. DRUGS ACROSS THE SPECTRUM, FIFTH EDITION also includes a number of resources to support active learning, both in and out of the classroom. From the JoinIn™ on TurningPoint® in-class lecture tool to the support of critical thinking with the new "Fact or Fiction" boxes and popular "Thinking Critically" boxes, students are engaged and educated about the topics and issues related to drugs in society.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"I really liked this textbook; the students seemed to like it and more importantly seemed to read the chapters on a regular basis. A well composed and fundamental overview on the history of drug use worldwide in America."

"It is well written, student-focused, and organized in a way that makes sense. It included everyday topics that students are interested in. Excellent survey of everyday drugs, and drugs students do not sometimes consider as drugs. Great for discussion. A nice surprise."

5.0 out of 5 stars saved on college books!, November 16, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My college age son needed this book for one of his classes - he sent me the link so that we could save a few dollars - rather than purchase it new at the school. Any parent paying for college appreciates any opportunity to save money!! The book I ordered arrived in excellent condition - it was almost brand new. I hope the person who had it prior to my purchase, passed the course, because this book was in excellent condition - no markings, folded pages, etc. It also came within the time frame it was promised. Very happy with the product condition and delivery.
