Stanhope is hilarious in this new CD.If you like Stanhope even a little, you'll love this one. He talks about starving children, health care, suicide, and more. He also adds his own heaping of harshness that we've grown to love. If you're not very familiar with Stanhope, and don't mind profanity, you should give this CD a listen. The profanity isn't overabundant, but Doug's act isn't 'squeaky clean' either. If comedy is something you're a fan of, your dollars are well spent here.

This latest CD is some of his best work ever. All of his releases(audio & video) are some of the best stand up which has ever been produced. If you have an open mind, love truth & honesty in everyday living & love great stand-up, then I strongly advise getting this CD. You will NOT be disappointed !Though self-destructive he may be, let's hope he takes good enough care of himself to continue providing us with such incredible gut wrenching humor for a very long time ! LONG LIVE DOUG STANHOPE !

Doug is one of the best standups ever,
This review is from: From Across the Street (Audio CD)
I'm extremely fond of Doug's material. It is acerbic and mean-spirited and negative, but I can't get enough and it's great to repeat listen to his catalog. This new album is a fine addition with all new material (previous records had some duplication, not annoying, but noticeable). I hope Doug sticks around and finds life worth living, I can't wait to hear his magnificent thoughts on a new set of topics.

What can I say. If you're actually reading this then you really shouldn't buy the album. If you've never heard Doug Stanhope then look him up on Youtube. If you have, and you like him, then you probably already own the album or downloaded it, in which case I still don't know why you are reading this.

I still laugh to myself frequently and find myself again and again re-listening to this album, still enjoying Doug's jokes. Awesome, awesome, awesome.

Stanhope's courage, creativity, and biting social commentary are so damn funny and impactful that the jokes hit the brain just enough to knock it out of its usual orbit, plunging the audience into a new way of seeing the world, even if the audience is too drunk to know it at the time.

Stanhope is great. He pushes the envelope in funny, creative ways. He describes himself as a fetish comic...meaning it is not for everybody. If taboo subjects bother you, don't listen. He is this generation's Bill Hicks.

It is an intense album. It is direct. It is obscene. It is funny. There will be the easily offended. This CD is not for you. The only way to properly define Doug Stanhope's existential morbidness is that is it the comedy of "Too Much Information." He piles detail upon detail and will not let up. He blows minds for a living. |
