Regaining my love of music after a 10-year hibernation, I've spent the last 18 months familiarizing myself with a whole bunch of bands losely describedas "progressive". I've gotten acquainted with the Flower Kings, Under the Sun, Spock's Beard, Transatlantic, Dream Theater, Arena, Mostly Autumn, Underground Railroad, Ange, Pendragon, Symphony X, Porcupine Tree, Tempano, IQ, White Willow, Shadow Gallery, Cairo, Glass Hammer, Pallas. Most were mediocre, and there's a LOT of rehashing going on in the genre (by the way, so-called "prog metal" is not "progressive" in the sense that most prog rock fans use). But now I can add Jadis! To this point, only a very few bands (Spock's Beard/Transatlantic, UTS, and Mostly Autumn) had distinguished themselves - even though they sound nothing like each other. Jadis manage to stand out from the crowd, too - to make a fresh contribution. The musicanship is good, with special kudos to drummer Stephen Christey. The album is very well produced, and the band's sound is crisp, assertive and upbeat. While sticking to a format of relatively short songs (6-7 min.), Jadis remain true to the "progressive spirit" with this collection of genuinely original, energetic and rewarding music.

Neo-prog at its best,
By
This review is from: Across the Water (Audio CD)
If you are a neo-progressive fan, then Jadis is a band you MUST own. The focal point of this band is Gary Chandler (vocals & guitar). Emotion, passion and heart-felt harmonies are at there best here. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

Uplifting to the limit,
This review is from: Across the Water (Audio CD)
If you can afford and hour to close your eyes, put your headphones on and with the undivided attention listen to the Jadis' spectacular vision created in the realm of the sound, this seemingly contradictory invitation would bring you back as a refreshed and renewed person. Jadis gives you the most uplifting sound possible, if you happen to have any emotions as you listen to them, they will be recorded like during the psychotherapeutic session, your imagination and awareness would get expanded beyond any anticipation. And on top of all this Jadis is a great music. Takes you not only beyond the waters but also beyond the time. You would be touched. No doubt.

POWERFUL ROCK!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Across the Water (Audio CD)
THIS MUSIC IS THE MOST POWERFUL AND ENERGETIC THE ROCK SCENE HAS HEARD ON THE PAST 10 YEARS. IT KEEPS ITS ENERGY FOR THE ENTIRE RECORDING, WHICH IS SOMETIMES DIFFICULT TO OBTAIN. THE MUSIC IS SO INTENSE THAT CAN BE CONSIDERED IN SOME MOMENTS AS EXTREMIST, BUT THERE ARE NO GROUPS THAN CAN RIVAL WITH THIS STRONG AND POWERFUL ROCK MUSICIANS
