I bought these glasses specifically for the 'heavy base' description. It turns out this is just the model name the manufacturer happened to give to this line, not a description of the attributes of the glass. The base is not heavy, and these are not any better than most plastic/acrylic glasses you can find at your local dollar store for one dollar.
