Editorial Reviews

Product Description
The perfect mix of black metal and hardcore are clearly evident in this brand new band from Florida. The four piece band has been around for a little over two years and they have been tearing up stages everywhere they go. The CD consists of six tracks and is over 50 minutes long......it does'nt take a math major to figure this equation out! The album is loaded with enough double bass action to keep the heart beating for days. And there is enough diversity to each song that it never gets old. Down right brutal! 5.0 out of 5 stars Another amazing Takehold band., December 25, 2000
By "kerryzmatic" (Silvis, IL United States) - See all my reviews
What may surprise you is the shear intensity of this band. Not just live (though they are a sickening live act - yes, the blood is real), but simply in the songs themselves. Six songs? Yes. Short album? No. These songs are loooong and varied. The longest song clocks in at 10:40. The songs are like miniature classical compositions only composed of sheer brutality - this comes from someone who has a good classical music education, by the way. Musically, they mix mostly hardcore and death metal, but also some black metal influences. Vocally... well... Dallas is the man. As crazy as it all sounds, you never feel lost or over your head when you are listening to this CD (assuming you are into extreme music in the first place). Alot of chaotic or technical bands tend to be such a musical overload that you get bored or cant keep up in the first place. "Act of Depression" is exactly the opposite. Their songs have actual movements to them that pull you along for the ride. If you are into extreme music, you cant go wrong here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent album, October 1, 2003
By casey "james" (st.pete, FL usa) - See all my reviews
Underoath is a band that defines what most christian bands would love to sound like. From the heavy metal sound, and the insane lyrics that attract you. Underoath is a band that gives those hardcore fans a great time. The songs are long, but keep you asking for more.
From the badass intro of ''watch me die''. To the sick voice of dallas taylor. If your a hardcore metal fan. I honestly give you advice to listen to them. Regardless if thier a christian band.
Nothing would please you more than to get up and headbang to an awesome metal band like underoath.

5.0 out of 5 stars IF YOU DON'T OWN THIS - YOU BETTER GET IT NOW!, July 29, 2000
By A Customer
I listen to this cd non stop. Every time i listen to it i hear something that i didnt the previous time i listened to it. The lead singer Dallas is sick. I would die to see them in concert. Pick up their new cd called CRIES OF THE PAST. Order it from takehold.com. Their new cd is suprisingly better than this one, but "act of depression" is still one of my favorite cd's of all time.
