Pro-pain is an incredibly consistent band. Call it hardcore/metal/thrash, I mean... What else could you call it? Jokes aside, this chugging hardcore masterpiece slams me up against the wall each and every time I give it a spin. Hey, my main point here is if you like Pro-Pain at all this will not disappoint. Sonically akin to "Round 6", and I may be wrong but I'm...

3.0 out of 5 stars ACT OF GOD by PRO-PAIN
This a great album, it will suprise you. Throwing down a shallow rift and stabbing you from behind with a jolt of power very few bands know of.

Sonically akin to "Round 6", and I may be wrong but I'm feeling a lot more energy coming through on this one. Oh and "Shreds Of Dignity" is about equal musically, but Lyrically this one gets the point across very well. Sure we got the super hits "Stand Tall" and "In For The Kill" but oh my (act of) god it only gets better from that point on. "I Remain", "Act of God", "All Fall Down", "Time Will Tell", "On Parade"... It just keeps getting better and better. 40 minutes of non-stop thrashing hardcore metal. It doesn't get much better than this. Then again Pro-pain did just come out with a covers CD...

5.0 out of 5 stars They just keep getting better and better, April 12, 1999

It seems like Pro-Pain is getting better and better with every album. I own every album, and this one is my favorite so far. Gary (vocals) sounds stronger than ever, guitars are tight, drum tracks are fenominal. Eversince Pro-Pain started recording and producing their own albums (starting with Contents Under Pressure), the result is always great.

As far as people saying that "all songs sound the same", well, you're in the wrong kind of music. Yes, the songs do sound alike, but as long as they all sound good, that's all I care about. This kind of music isn't about bustin' out 5 minute wah-wah guitar solos, it's about making heavy, tight, in-your-face kind of songs.

Pro-Pain is also my favorite band to see live. If you haven't yet, go check them out - you won't regret it (if you like heavy music).

4.0 out of 5 stars A fine hard-core album, August 27, 1999

I'll be straight forward: this is a great album--much better than "Pro-Pain"(this is still good)-but still not as good as "The Truth Hurts". "Truth" is an excellent album. Nevertheless, "Act of God" is far better than any current radio offering or so-called heavy metal that is out on the shelves these days.

5.0 out of 5 stars The meat and potatoes of metal..., September 1, 2001

I love Pro-Pain. They are loud, angry, and tight. Act Of God was my first Pro-Pain CD. I picked it up 'cuz the name of the band sounded cool, and it turned out to be one of my all time favorite CD's. This isn't gardening music, this is "torture the neighboor's cat and then beat on your little brother" heavy metal. Once you've heard one of Pro-Pain's albums, you'll want 'em all.

i just got this album a month ago, and i have to say it is pretty good. It has some catchy rhythms, and great hardcore vocals. I'm just now finding out about this band, i have yet to hear their older stuff, but this is good if you like hardcore metal.

WOW! I just got done listening to it.I bought it today. It just got released today. TOTALLY JAMS!! Way better than thier last one(Which is awsome too). But this one ACT OF GOD is definately,in my opinion,Pro-pain's best to date. I don't know which is my favorite song on it,cuz thier all great. All heavy songs. Each around 3 minute long. New guitarist Eric Klinger fits in automatically and sounds great. New drummer Eric Matthews the same thing -GREAT! Typical Meskil and Klimchuck, perfecting the Pro-pain sound. I can't sing enough praises for this! Just Buy it! CRANK IT!! PRO-PAIN RULES!!!

Their fifth album is again a pure masterpiece. After their incredible tour with Germany's Superstars " Böhse Onkelz" they are back with an killer album. They don't make enemies, it's like a tank !!! Pure and real --> Pro Pain are back with a vengeance.

4.0 out of 5 stars Mouth for Roar, April 15, 2009

This review is from: Act of God (Audio CD)
Mindless meat and potatoes thrash, Pro-Pain do their best within a limiting format. For these New Yorkers, "consistency" is a badge to be worn with honor. As unrelenting as a dentists drill (and almost as musical), they've been plying their trade for well over a decade, dating all the way back to 1992's A Foul Taste of Freedom. Every album since then has been a refinement on a now-classic sound. Act of God isn't anything we haven't heard before, but if you're a fan of Pro-Pain, you're probably not pining for anything new anyway. You know the drill: Old-school NYC hardcore, served up with plenty of speed and hate and vitriol. Gary Meskil barks out vocals like a drill sergeant. The drums crack like riot batons under the noonday sun. The guitars are like an industrial-strength fire hose sweeping the sludge off slaughterhouse floors. And the bass... I can't think of a fitting analogy for the bass. Self-produced by the band, Act of God sounds the way a metal album should, with warm, natural tones and each instrument getting a good, full spot in the mix. It's these intangibles (and Pro-Pain's pedigree) that help Act of God stand out in a crowded pack.
