4.0 out of 5 stars These work great for me when I have a cold.......
They dry up the "nasal drippage" & sneezing, & I can breath a bit better. Makes it possible to go on about my day; of course I still have that "spacey" cold head feeling, the only way to get over that is for the cold to end in my experience.

There are people who hate these, apparently, because they are not the "old formula" Actifed. I've only used the "new...

Both my wife and I have had allergies most of our lives. We both used the old formula and it worked well. The new formula is a waste of money. It does absolutely nothing for either of our symptoms. You might as well take a sugar pill.

I've only used the "new formula" Actifed tho, so I can't compare.

I used to order generic CVS labeled Actifed from [...], much cheaper, but for some reason they've been "Sold out" for months on that (Sold out online, they still have it at CVS stores; way cheaper than name brand Actifed). No generic Actifed at Walmart online. I looked at Costco, they don't have Actifed. Finally Amazon had the best price on this 3-pack of "name brand" Actifed.

BTW, I also take echinacea, & vit. C in the Winter. IMO they do help, to ward off a cold, but once you get the cold, not so much. When all else fails, you can always try a shot or two of Bushmills Irish Whisky, (for medicinal purposes only, of course, ha).

For summer/spring/fall pollen allergies, I've tried about every OTC med. sold over the last 20 years. I recently got some generic Zyrtec, which seems promising. But the real "miracle" drug for pollen allergies is Nasonex, (if you can afford it, or have insurance).

I have used this product for 40 yrs. to control sinus and allergy problems. The medication was reformulated awhile back do to the misuse by the meth users. It is not as effective as it once was but it is still the only thing that seems to work for me. Now I am told the company is no longer going to make this brand. In my effort to find this product, I ordered it from Amazon. I am very grateful that I will have a supply on hand while I search for another medication to replace the Actifed.

Actifed works perfectly to ward off my daytime allergies. Taken at bedtime, I wake up allergy free. No longer available in local stores, Amazon comes to the rescue with a great price for a great product!

4.0 out of 5 stars Works for me, July 29, 2009

I've had severe allergies and have suffered for years with little relief. I've taken many different products and nothing has ever really done much to help. Only about a year ago as of writing this I tried Actifed and it has worked very well to stop my allergy symptoms. What's strange is I've also tried 2 other brands with the same listed drugs and dose that did not seem to work as well. I don't know how that happens but I've stuck with Actifed for the past year and have controlled my allergy symptoms better than I ever have. I would give this product 5 stars but it does of course have some negatives. It really saps my energy and tends to make me sleepy. I find if I'm staying active I don't notice these effects too much, but any other time I feel like I could fall asleep and it's hard to be motivated to do anything. What's also strange is the severity of this effect seems to vary box to box. I would prefer not to deal drowsiness but after the years of allergy suffering it's a small price to pay. Minor negatives would be it tends to keep my eyes and mouth dry. You have to really stay on top of doses, every 4 hours on the worst days. I sometimes go 3 1/2 hours if I start getting symptoms. That is also a negative, especially if you're busy, sometimes you just forget. I do find that when I forget and start getting symptoms, once I take a pill it usually kicks in quick.
