Excellent resource for realism in dialogue!, June 11, 1998

This review is from: Acting With an Accent Standard British (Cassette) (Paperback)
It is always difficult to work in community theaters on productions that are period continental or have foreign characters - frequently most subtlety of characterization is lost with a poor 'flavor' of accent. Stern's "Acting With an Accent" series (Standard Brit in particular) is blessing for anyone needing to have a realistic alteration to their mode of speech. Very easy to work through - great for single actors or for groups - the listener is taught not only how the accent sounds, but *why* it sounds that way. After practicing with the exercises on making new sounds with one's mouth, the desired accent simply flows naturally and allowing the actor to blend the accent with the character.
