4.0 out of 5 stars the best I've found
This was our assigned text in beginning acting. I was first skeptical about how much one could learn about from a book. The answer is, "quite a bit." The book, in spite of its slim appearance, holds a good amount of information and is packed with acting exercises. All in all, a good supplement to anyone's shelf.

2.0 out of 5 stars Wrong headed title
This is a well known book, but its title is exactly wrong if one truly understands Stanislavski. 2.0 out of 5 stars Wrong headed title, October 21, 2011
This review is from: Acting Is Believing (Hardcover)
This is a well known book, but its title is exactly wrong if one truly understands Stanislavski. Stanislavski taught that acting is NOT believing; but rather the actor treating people and things on stage as if they were what he wants the AUDIENCE to believe they are. He does this by logically carrying out a series of physical actions, justifying everything with the "magic if"; but not really believing it. So, in fact, according to Stanislavski, acting is not believing at all.
