Editorial Reviews

Edo. G followed up his critically acclaimed albums Life Of A Kid In The Ghetto and Roxbury 02119 with the extremely limited vinyl only EP Acting, originally recorded and released in 1996, With beats by long time production partners The Vinyl Reanimators and himself, and independently released exclusively in Japan, Acting became a cult classic and very rare collector’s item for dusty vinyl heads to flex about in old school blogs. That is until Joe Mansfield and Edo dug out all the original reels and dats from the sessions. That little coveted EP has now been rebirthed into a full out album 18 tracks strong featuring all new artwork, the original track listing as well as a gang of NEVER BEFORE heard or released bonus tracks, remixes, interludes and a capellas. Once again ALL production duties handled by the Vinyl Reanimators and Edo with cuts and scratches by legendary disc jocks, DJ Shame and Nestle Quick and vocal contributions from Boston veteran rappers Scientifik (R.I.P) and Big Shug of the Gangstarr Foundation. Traffic Ent. is proud to present Edo. G’s new found Acting album available on CD for the first time ever.

2.0 out of 5 stars Sub-Par Album at best, February 3, 2008
This review is from: Acting (Audio CD)
I usually only review albums if they have no reviews. This is a sub-par album by a classic Hip-Hop group and Edo G. and the Bulldogs. Still don't know the correct spelling of their group. They have several different members: T-Nyne, Game (formerly Smooth Ice Gee), DJ Cruz, Black, Bulletproof Brett, Slim Dog, Shawn Booker, Lorenzo, Bruzer, Mo, Tyrone, Money 1, Muff K., Diamond, Dream Nefra, and Joe. I think too many members can lead to varying tastes and an unbalanced flow as a result on this album.

The song that I enjoyed the most is "Feeling You", a relaxing love tone...unlike the several gangster-type songs imprinted on this album. Edo G. & the Bulldogs keep it Ol-Skool. You have to be a hardcore and patient fan of their group to enjoy most of the garbage on this album. Not to be completely negative, it has a lot of conscious Hip-Hop with tracks like "Acting" and "Dedicated." But the whole demeaning of women (tricks, bitches, hos), it seems like they have it out for attacking women. There's even a protypical Hip-Hop track called "Living With A Trick." That's the problem with this album. I don't recommend it.
