No longer amused by the peculiarities of the customers and the kinds of beer that can be brewed at Pilchak's U-Brew Palace, Brewmaster Bill (as he refers to himself) expands his journal to write a book about the people he knows. The resulting novel, however, is far more than a transcription of the lives of Brewmaster's friends.
With the assurance of a more seasoned writer, Brewmaster Bill (and his puppeteer, Mike Tanner) create a wonderful novel that juggles characters, comedy, ideas, satire, and social criticism. When on the last pages the juggling stops, the reader is left with the feeling of having watched a superb circus act - and more. Acting the Giddy Goat isn't mere amusement and entertainment: it is a novel that speaks eloquently of its time and that is true to its time.
