About the Author

Gary Graham was born in Long Beach, California and grew up in and around Orange County. The son of a medical doctor, he too aspired to a career in medicine. However, despite showing prowess in the medical sciences, Gary left pre-med to study theater arts at the University of California, Irvine, in the early seventies, before he won his first feature film role opposite George C. Scott in “HARDCORE.” Since that time Gary has appeared in numerous feature films such as “ROBOT JOX”, “THE LAST WARRIOR”, “MAN TROUBLE”, and “STEEL”, TV movies and series, such as “WALKER TEXAS RANGER”, and “NASH BRIDGES” and from 1990 to 1996 starred as Matt Sikes in FOX TV's “ALIEN NATION”. More recently he was seen in recurring roles as Capt. Ingles on “JAG” and Ambassador Soval in the new Star Trek series, “ENTERPRISE”. He now lives in a small town outside of Los Angeles, where he enjoys skiing, golfing, spending time with his family...and flying.

4.0 out of 5 stars Intelligent, witty, informative and full of common sense!, March 14, 2006
This review is from: Acting & Other Flying Lessons: A Practical Guide to Acting on a Film Set (Paperback)
I purchased Gary's book and found it very entertaining. I'm not an actor nor do I aspire to be one, but the book is funny and intelligent. There are a few lessons in there that one could apply to everyday life and career, not just acting. It's loaded with something very rare...common sense. Not to mention some very funny stories. Everyone should order it.
Mr. Graham's talent for writing is evident in both his book and his website's "Corner"on GaryGraham.com. I would definitely buy a novel or anything else he authors. He should write an Alien Nation or Enterprise novel.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just for actors anymore!, August 13, 2006
By
This review is from: Acting & Other Flying Lessons: A Practical Guide to Acting on a Film Set (Paperback)
When I was young, and determined to be a professional musician, I read a book called THE INNER GAME OF TENNIS, which talked about how people defeat themselves when they're on the spot and have to bring it or go home. It was the best guide to understanding the challenge of living a creative life that I've ever seen.

Until now.

Gary's book is simply amazing. Witty, insightful, full of the very same observations I've made time after time about musicians, and writers (two fields very similar to acting in a lot of ways). Gary not only knows what he's talking about, he's developed an understanding of how success really works ... so read, discover, and take it to heart.

I highly recommend it.
