About the Author

Kurt Daw is a professional director and the author of Acting: Thought into Action (Heinemann, 1997). He was also the founding chair of the theatre department at Kennesaw State University in suburban Atlanta, Georgia. Daw has twice been selected as recipient of National Endowment for the Humanities grants, and is currently the Dean of the School of Fine and Performing Arts at SUNY.

Kurt Daw is the Dean of the College of Creative Arts at San Francisco State University. He has formerly served as Dean of Fine and Performing Arts at SUNY - New Paltz and Chair of Theatre at Kennesaw State University. Daw has twice participated in National Endowment for the Humanities seminars at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., on Shakespeare and performance. He has directed both opera and theatre widely, including Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, Antony and Cleopatra, Midsummer Night's Dream, Tempest, Comedy of Errors, and Macbeth.
