5.0 out of 5 stars Action Alert
This book is the Thunderbirds that we all know and love. Everyone is there from our childhood memories.
For me the story wasn't long enough.
If I have one complaint it is that I still prefer the books written by John Theydon back in the 1960's.

I would love nothing more than to say how wonderful this book was and that I couldn't put it down. But after waiting and waiting for it to arrive, I finally got an email saying the seller had none left (despite the website saying there was at least one available when I placed my order) and my order was being cancelled. Needless to say I was quite disappointed. Maybe this...

5.0 out of 5 stars Action and Suspense!, July 17, 2010
This review is from: Action Alert (Paperback)
This was just as fun as `Countdown to Action!' and like the titles states, it was indeed full of action as International Rescue utilized all five of their special machines. The story again, was fast-paced and held my interest as events unfolded. The details were spot-on with the action of the machines, the characters and even of the rescue situations where the Tracy's were assisting. Always enjoy it when there is a `bad guy' to be apprehended or beaten. It was nice to have the focus of Scott, as the reader learns more of his mind while he's on missions or just trying to relax in between them. I was very happy to have this one available to me after reading the first in this series as I jumped into it right away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Family fun while saving the world from danger and evil..., June 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Action Alert (Paperback)
How refreshing to read a sci-fi book that doesn't make me wince at profanity or R-rated subject matter. I can relax and let Joan Marie Verba draw me in to the story as she develops the characters and describes the Thunderbirds action in detail. She immerses the reader into the story until we feel that we know the characters and understand their motives. The book is one in a series Verba has written about a talented, well-adjusted family of heroes whose missions involve rescuing other people in a variety of dangerous situations. They use high-tech equipment like an orbiting satellite station and custom-designed jets. I particularly like the values of bravery, excellence, and honor that run through the family of main characters. I liked this book so much that I bought all three in the series and gave them to my son for summer reading, knowing he will be exposed to good values and clean sci-fi fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sit back, relax and enjoy the ride!, March 20, 2010

Joan Marie Verba has a special way with words to let he reader get into the plot and see the movie being created on the pages! Five young men work with with their father to rescue people no one one else could reach. Verba describes the 115-foot-tall rocket reconnaissance craft and the International Rescue uniforms of turquoise jumpsuits with light blue sashes and turquoise boots so perfectly that all the images in the book come alive. The apple pie from start to finish makes you feel right at home with the Thunderbird's. A fun and fast read!
